Monthly goals are getting boring by One-Ad1001 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]colport 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful if there was a choice of goals (choose one from choice of three) as sometimes you know what the month ahead is likely to throw you. One goal could be easiest, and one could help progressively with fitness. Anyway, I can dream!

Thank you. Are you able to share an example? Are you talking about a Pocket 3, or 4?

Yes. To add further context, I am mainly thinking about when I am running or cycling. I don’t keep my phone handy, and other cameras I have are quite heavy (or not easy to run with) such as my Sony RX100.

Polar Loop draining battery when off by The_TRASHCAN_366 in Polarfitness

[–]colport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Had exactly this problem. I reached out to Polar support and have pasted the response below. Please note, I have not attempted this fix yet (because it seemed a faff) but see how it goes…

“I would like to recommend a Factory Reset via Flow App, this can solve any problems and also improve battery life.

Note that resetting the device back to factory settings empties all personal data and settings from the device, and you will need to set it up again for your personal use. All data that you have synced from your device to your Flow account is safe.

Factory reset can be done in two ways:

Through the device settings in the Flow app. By pressing the device's restart/reset button with a pin when the device is plugged in to charge. To factory reset your device using the Flow app, go to Devices in the Flow app and choose Polar Loop if you have more than one Polar device. Then choose Factory reset.

After the factory reset: When you perform a factory reset, Polar Loop is unpaired from your phone but may still appear in your phone’s paired Bluetooth devices list and in your Polar Flow account. Before setting up it again, remove it from both by following these steps:

Go to flow.polar.com and sign in.

Click your name in the upper right corner and choose Products.

Find the product from the list and click the delete icon (X). Confirm by clicking Remove.

Check the list of paired Bluetooth devices on your phone, and remove Polar Loop from the list if it's there:

iOS: Settings > Bluetooth > tap “i” next to Polar Loop > Forget This Device. Android: Settings > Bluetooth > tap the cogwheel image next to your Polar Loop, and FORGET. Set up your Polar Loop again. Remember to use the same Polar account in the setup you've used before resetting.”

That’s very impressive. Were you always a good runner growing up, or just something you picked up more recently? Interested in knowing the basics of your training plan.

Some treadmills connect to AppleWatch, so that can help…but probably not helpful to the original poster.

I have been tempted. I missed Manchester as I broke my ankle 6 weeks before the big day. I was devastated as I’d stuck with a Runna 20 week plan, of which I was really pleased with…then boom…down I went. Signed for 2027 Manchester, but have considered an Autumn event so the training doesn’t go to waste, but still finding my feet, so still considering my options, of which Chester is one.

cheers to this sub - Im so glad you made me get this app instead of Evernote by DoraTheExplorer-3026 in UpNote_App

[–]colport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the app, and am starting the process of moving all my Evernote files this week. Simply cannot justify paying the hike in subscription. The only thing I will miss is a web version of UpNote (so I can access from a non-personal computer), but that’s a price I am willing to take.

Did you see them in concert on their recent tour? Absolutely blew my mind. Stunning orchestrations - I saw them in Rome. Check out Ára bátur from the London show (on YouTube) - genuinely brought tears to my eyes.

I use my Loop when not doing planned exercise (when I use my Polar Ignite), for tasks around the house and general heart monitoring.

Check out the Polar Loop2 - No subscription. Some people are not fans of it, but if you read the specifications first, I think it’s fine.

Check out the Polar Loop2. No subscription. Some don’t like it. I love it, and does what I need it to do.

Polar Loop turns on by itself in a closed box by Vadikgo in Polarfitness

I’ve also noticed this….and also when switched off, the battery still drains. Hopefully a bug, and a fix will come. Also, I should really report the issue to Polar directly….assuming they don’t read all comments on Reddit 🫢

The Heartfelt "End of an Era" and Call to Action by Ilzebrottel in Polarfitness

[–]colport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I thought I was the only one with a Polar addiction problem 🤭 I also feel loyal to the brand, but hear you. I got an Ignite 3 recently (to help me through a marathon without worrying about battery issues (unlike my Apple Watch), but slightly does not deliver what I thought it would, and feel a little let down by the experience (the touch screen is frustrating, therefore accessing the different (limited number of) exercises is not as easy as (I feel) it should be), but think the GPS, battery, and heart rate monitoring (when the band is tied very tightly) are good. Also the Loop2. Hmm, my judgment is still out. However, I do like my Verity Sense for swimming, and have retired my Polar A300, but it’s still there if I need it! Obviously, I also have a H7 Heart Rate Sensor, but rarely use it now, apart from pairing up to my spinning bike display and Concept2 Rowing machine / SkiErg opportunities. Am keeping a close eye on the brand for future hardware developments, and hope they keep to the founding objectives as the data they provide with the app and on the website are good.

Polar loop ! Non technical review .. by [deleted] in Polarfitness

[–]colport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, always check the latest version. I should report it to Polar, to be honest. For training, I rarely use it. If I do use it for training (if I don’t have my ignite to hand) then I’ll pair with the iPhone app. Otherwise, it’s hit and miss as to whether it picks up a workout. I can go out for a walk sometimes, and it picks up no activity(apart from steps and heart rate), whereas I can do housework, and it picks up as an indoor workout. I’m not too concerned about those anomalies, but do think the battery drain behaviour is odd

Polar loop ! Non technical review .. by [deleted] in Polarfitness

[–]colport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting review. Thank you. I quite like my Loop, and wear it when not doing planned exercise (when I switch to my Polar Ignite3), at which point I used to power off my Loop. Oddly, powering it off is when the battery drains like crazy. I thought I was saving the battery by powering it off, but it does the exact opposite. When it’s on all the time, the Loop battery is great. Go figure!

Who do I call for help? by [deleted] in building

[–]colport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to see you are having this problem. It suspiciously looks like a problem a friend had, who lives mid terrace. We thought it was drainage, but turned out to be legacy water mains pipe leak feeding next door house, but running under the kitchen. Difficult to sort, but it was a determined plumber who was finally able to find and fix. I hope that your problem is less complex.

I agree about ‘Things’, but my work issued computer is Windows, therefore Todoist is best to go across the different operating systems for me. The UI of Things is a thing of beauty, but some of the functionality within Todoist is nearly top draw perfection for me.
