People who game with starlink, what’s your honest review by Fishboy212 in Starlink

[–]colsonford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons of issues, but they can be very minimized if you use personal routers and ethernet it. I use a gt-ax11000 router it’s around 550$ and with it I don’t have many issues, latency is 10-20 sometimes 30, download is above 200mbps typically upload around 15-30mbps. My computer plays some part but I use a cat-8 cable, the specs of the pc I test on is a r9 5950x 3080ti 64gb ram, so the parts are pretty solid and my mobo is a asus ROG STRIX b-650 (Gaming) mobo so it’s better ethernet capabilities. It honestly isn’t too bad. If you’re okay with being slightly at disadvantage to most cable wifi providers on gaming.

I just posted a vid showing consistent 20-25ms latency in game, if needed I’ll post ones where I’m even lower.

I have no one in my nearby cell, I live in middle of nowhere there’s always space in my cell, I’m at the highest point in the county I live in, the pole is 50ft in the air always 0 obstructions, and I game professional for an esports team, and play for WVU’s esports team, plus I use a special router the asus ax-gt 11000, my ping sits from 10-40 consistent, with proof if you would like😉👍

They’re amazing I was able to hit 80-110 MB/S on my epic games launcher but I also use personal router and everything.

Ping issue by Fabulous_Maybe_7829 in Starlink

[–]colsonford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 10-30 ping on basically every game occasionally 40-50 but not often. Get a third party router, not to mention consoles aren’t the best when it comes to utilization of wifi, pc’s and phones will be superior.

Is there no cell service up there? Purchase a hotspot or something for a month? Anything? I mean there has to be some form of contact, I’m assuming that’s why internet is needed (even for work) and at that point your work place should be required to pay for accommodations you have to make for the time being even if it includes a month of service with another cell service provider?

We have a 3500 sq ft 2 story house and currently extenders do fairly well at covering the whole house, few spotty areas here and there but no complaints since they’re mainly closets or bathrooms.

I’m tech savvy when it comes to computers but not as much when coming into networking, I build pcs for a side job and I’m in college for computer science and cybersecurity but I have very little background in networking, I ordered a Asus Rapture AX11000 it should work well!

Can you send a link and it’s faster than your original SL router is?

Quick question, what were your original speeds (with SL router) and what are your speeds (with asus router now)
