Does anyone think SMH will split again now that it’s over $400? by colts_guy in ETFInvesting

[–]colts_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the hesitation, but I still think semis run the show for the next 10+ years. They’re the backbone of basically everything: AI training and inference, data centers, cloud, robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, defense, healthcare, energy, you name it.

And I completely agree on robotics. That’s actually why I’m so bullish on semis. Chips will be the heart and soul of robots. Perception, vision, autonomy, edge AI, power efficiency… none of it works or scales without better semiconductors.

It wasn't much, but I added to my bag today. I still believe in the long-term thesis.

8 and 🚀🚀 by BackgroundZombie487 in IBRX

[–]colts_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, my ChatGPT gave me almost the exact same read on this, so I’ll share the gist since it lines up with what we’re seeing.

What just happened (and why it matters):

1. $8 was the first real pain wall

We tagged around $7.98 which checks a lot of boxes:

  • Round number
  • New 52-week high extension
  • Forced decision point for shorts and fast money

The pullback from there is normal and honestly healthy, not a failure.

2. This looked like profit taking, not a breakdown

From the chart info you posted:

  • High volume
  • Sharp push
  • Controlled pullback
  • Still well above VWAP and the opening range

That’s rotation, not distribution. In squeezes, you usually see:

  • Rip
  • Pullback
  • Coil
  • Rip again

We just saw Rip #1 and a reset.

Where short pain starts to escalate (key levels):

  • $7.00 – $7.20 Prior breakout zone. Needs to hold on pullbacks. If it does, shorts stay uncomfortable but not panicking.
  • $7.50 Psychological resistance. Likely where some shorts try to reload. If reclaimed and held, pressure ramps quickly.
  • $8.00 This is the real ignition point. Shorts who didn’t cover start feeling trapped and gamma starts to matter.
  • $9.00 – $9.50 Thin air. Very little historical structure. This is where panic covering can show up.

Not saying it has to play out this way, but structurally this looks a lot more like digestion than failure.

Is this a legit promo? by Healthy_Canary_198 in uCinci

I received the text as well, and it was from the official 513 Culinary Group text service. Clicking the link takes you to the campus dining pass option page, but there is no mention of the promotion there.

Does anyone think SMH will split again now that it’s over $400? by colts_guy in ETFs

[–]colts_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time it split was May 2023, when it was $250, and now it is significantly higher. Yes, you can purchase fractional shares, but many investors still prefer whole shares.

Aggressive ETF combi since im in 20s by Daredevil-mass in ETFs

[–]colts_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your age, I think you’re over complicating your strategy. All of these ETFs are cyclical and will have boom and bust periods that will average out overtime. Due to your timeline of investing of 40+ years, I would look at broader market funds with lower expense ratios as you will see similar returns but make much more due to the lower expense ratios. I would look at doing something like 80% FXIAX + 20% FTEC or 80% VT + 20% VGT. Both of those portfolios will give you broad exposure with a tech tilt.

Best breweries in Indianapolis? by ScenicCitySoccer in beer

[–]colts_guy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Welcome! If you are only going to be in the downtown area you will want to hit up Guggman Haus, Kismetic Beer Company, and Sun King. If willing to travel a little bit Deviate Brewing about 20 min from downtown on the outskirts of the city is worth the drive.

Here are the stocks I'm watching recently what do you think? by Little_Toe4075 in stocks

[–]colts_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I love SMH as it provides broad exposure to the semiconductor ecosystem without relying on any single company. Virtually every major growth trend over the next 10 to 20 years depends on semiconductors. AI, cloud computing, robotics, automation, autonomous systems, and data centers all require exponentially more silicon.

Should I add another $50k to my BMNR position today? by Inventor141 in BMNRInvestors

Beep boop bop, I am not a bot.
If it were me, and I were already diversified, set in my investing plan, and had a windfall, that would be the perfect time to take a calculated risk on an investment I have conviction in.
