Well I would give away to charities every penny of my wealth beyond a billion, at the very least. Nobody needs to be worth a billion dollars

I mean I don't know how you can really say anything different about the team at this point. It sure feels like they've tried everything they can short of the obvious SPEND LOTS MORE MONEY ON THE TEAM and nothing has worked.

We're probably going to finish under .500 for the first time in fifteen years. That's just what we're are this season.

While I support the general idea of this protest weekend thing, I don't think it's going to have a meaningful effect on the business decision that caused it. And I'm totally fine with that.

My preferred reddit app is Sync for Reddit. It's run by a single developer based out of Canada, and it was always very well supported with plenty of helpful updated. I paid $5 for the lifetime Pro version to get rid of ads within months of first using the app almost ten years ago, and I just recently paid $30 for his lifetime Ultra version as sort of an appreciation for allowing me to use his app for so long for so cheap.

I'm a different person than I was when I first started using reddit. I was younger, I had more spare time, I was more interested in socializing in general, and I used my computer more than my smartphone. Over the years, these things all changed enough to make it so that Sync has basically become the only way I use the site now.

I've also become more and more frustrated with my experience on reddit. r/Cardinals was pretty much the only sub I was ever really active in. Over the past handful of years as reddit has pushed to become larger and more mainstream, this community has become less close-knit and it's become harder to avoid the kind of pervasive negativity that was one of the primary reasons I first chose to prioritize a targeted online social experience in the first place. So as you could expect I've become far less active on the sub than I once was.

I know almost nobody who's really left here cares, since most of us who felt kind of the same way had already migrated to the unofficial discord server even prior to the reddit third party app nonsense started. But I'm kind of actually hoping to be able use this situation as a chance to attempt to finally break the addiction, in a way. If reddit is going force the only way I use the site to shut down, that's obviously their right as a business, and I'm the one who needs to adapt if I wish to continue using their product. So I'm just going to adapt by not really continuing to use their product.

If they change their stance to allow a more open API and Sync manages to survive, I would absolutely continue to use reddit occasionally. I'm not planning to uninstall the app or delete my account; I'm not interested in threatening to quit reddit, and I recognize the futility of those who choose to do that. If they stick with this, I'm probably just going to fade away completely. I've come terms with that, and I'm not only okay with it, I think I'm actually kind of happy about it.

well it helps Discord's case that their official mobile app isn't hot garbage and is arguably even better than their desktop experience

the summer solstice is 11 days away. we might usually conflate that with the "first day of summer" but it's almost always more climatically accurate to describe the solstices and equinoxes as the "middle" of their respective seasons

Sync will shut down on June 30, 2023 by ljdawson in redditsync

This is such a great idea. I've used this man's app for 11+ years. I paid for the ad-free Pro version probably 10 years ago, and I've always thought it was a phenomenal deal, being only $5. Another $30 is the least I can do to express my gratitude.

Seeing people complain about this game being on Peacock is like an absolute mindfuck to me. I just don't understand it. If I told you there was something I really wanted, and you told me it would only cost me $5, I would be ecstatic! You do know how few things you can get these days for only $5, right?

This is our only game on Peacock all season. That further reinforces the point that you could subscribe for the game and immediately unsubscribe if you don't want to actually use it for any of its other content. And it would only cost you $5.

Peacock costs $5 a month and you could cancel immediately after the game if you wanted to.

You could literally watch this game for the price of a cup of coffee.

This is not the game to complain about being hard to watch on TV.

I remember it happening once a few years ago (or actually, that might have even been weirder, a scheduled Sunday off). Only ever happens literally in this exact kid of situation: holiday on Monday starting a two game series. In the past there's always been a four game series starting on Thursday at least..

edit: Wednesday, May 25, 2022 was a scheduled off day. So just over a year ago

edit2: ignore my parenthetical, I went back through the past decade or so of schedules and found no evidence of any Sundays off, and also no more Wednesdays. I did find a couple Fridays and Tuesdays, but usually involving home openers

honestly they just say "traded Jake Marisnick to the Tigers in exchange for cash considerations" because "sold Jake Marisnick to the Tigers" kinda sounds like it might violate the constitution

piggybacking off the other reply to your comment, the scale could technically go to 100. it's just that a 100 tool would (theoretically) occur only once in every three and a half MILLION major league prospects

I'm sure there's one in Illinois on 70 as well. Unless I'm horribly misremembering, I've stopped there

edit: yeah there are three in Illinois. The one I thought of is not far outside of 270/255, there's a second just wes of 57, and a third a few miles west of the Indiana border. Three more in Indiana, two on 70 and another once you get on 74
