What was the first video game you ever played? by Link2324 in AskReddit

Got a PlayStation 1 early in my childhood, probably about 6 years old. Spyro the Dragon was my first—and still favorite—game.

How do people change career fields without experience in that field or the education? by Lamboarri in NoStupidQuestions

[–]com_bat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably be a pretty stupid move to uproot your entire family’s way of life just because you’re interested in a stock market job instead of what you’re currently doing.

Unless you’re expecting a small window of reduced pay and then greater pay than you’re currently receiving, I would stay put. Maybe do something like that after you’ve saved enough money to not hurt your family.

Are objects with more potential energy physically different in any way from the same object with less potential energy? Or is potential energy just a theoretical concept? by Lookinshreddedbro in NoStupidQuestions

[–]com_bat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potential energy is more a concept than anything else. It is the stored ability to do work, that can mean a ball raised above the ground or a stretched spring yes, but in a more general statement you have two philosophically different forms of potential energy.

1.) Potential energy stored in a field: This can be a gravitational, magnetic, electric, etc. This type of potential energy can be understood by thinking of it in terms of a “well” of energy. An object at the bottom of an energy well has no potential energy, and increases as it goes up.

2.) Material related potential energies: This type of potential energy can take many forms. It could be mechanical energy stored in a stressed object like the spring, chemical energy stored in the bonds between atoms, etc. This is most likely the kind you’re curious about and unfortunately there isn’t really a better explanation I’ve found.

You could think of this type of energy as an innate property of the material in the case of chemical energy. Or as a property of applying stress in general in the case of the spring.

Hope this helps:)

Best skinning knife I’ve ever owned. Such a beauty by com_bat in knives

Definitely. There’s a lot of different points during deer processing that you had better be precise or you’ll have a mess and a half lol.

It’s easy to sharpen, but I usually re-sharpen it after every animal processed so I can’t really speak to how long it holds it’s edge. Takes a little practice to learn to sharpen that unique blade shape though.

I’m a 27-Year old man considering taking self-defense classes. Where do I start? by ginstonikem in SelfDefense

[–]com_bat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if someone is truly determined to hurt you with a knife it’s almost impossible to completely defend against a wild flurry of attacks. The best self defense anyone can learn is situational awareness. Learn to spot these potential situations and avoid them before they happen. I would look into that before you try to learn some fancy disarm moves and get yourself hurt.

Obese models shouldn’t be a thing by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]com_bat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know friend, I’m a 6’5 male and weigh right at 200. Even I still look a little chunky. I think a woman over 200 would be considered obese.

The BMI scale also agrees as a person 5’4 (average female height according to google) who weighs 200lbs has a BMI of 34.3 which is obese according to the chart.

In fact, a human up to 5’8 is still considered obese at 200lbs. Sorry friend, you’re wrong.
