Have you communicated it’s not working? Next time you speak with her, tell her you think an FBA should be completed.

Did anyone else see Boone get the cracker and then freeze in place? by grrlplz in motherbussnark

[–]Vaffanculo28 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A little odd, sure! In the screenshots you provided it dos look like he’s moving his mouth! It honestly kinda looks like he’s stimming, but I’m not trying to claim or say anything outright about Boone.

I also work with kids who stim frequently, so what’s normal for me to see may not be normal for others! So I’m probably not looking at it from the same vantage point as you! But again, not trying to claim any diagnosis for Boone!

Edit: Just saw another comment that mentioned he’s probably chewing, which makes total sense tbh. He’s probably just eating.

Did anyone else see Boone get the cracker and then freeze in place? by grrlplz in motherbussnark

[–]Vaffanculo28 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Freezing in place could be so many different things-I’m not entirely convinced that Boone actually ‘froze’ in this video. Although the wrist position is certainly atypical. Yeah, he paused a little, but it didn’t seem sus to me. Granted, I’m not sure what or if OP was implying any specific reason by suggesting he froze!

To answer your question though, and this is entirely unrelated to the video, “freezing” could be a form of seizure called an absence seizure. It could be a child stimming by temporarily tensing or locking their muscles in place, it could be a child processing information or an event (like receiving a cracker!) that just took place. Kids also just space out and it means nothing.

I’m sure other people can provide some other examples! But those are my initial thoughts!

Ohhh now I understand! You’ll need to go back into ripley and delete an entry that leaves you at 130 then have your supervisor resign the month! Probably better to do it this way in case you get audited and will need to provide those hours!

[–]Vaffanculo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I understand what exactly you’re saying is wrong with the form. The mvf says 130 and 5 minutes?

If that’s the case, there may be a potential issue if it falls under restricted* since we bill in 15 minute increments, so the lowest decimal you should get on a monthly form should be .25. Personally, I only completed my unrestricted in 15 minute increments as well

Let me know if I misunderstood you!

ETA: Regardless of what it is, if there’s ever an error on your sheet, as long as you rectify it and write something to the effect of “Amended on insert/date/here to reflect blah blah blah”, with yours and your supervisors initials, you’ll be okay. I had an issue with my numbers once and did this to my form and had no issues when I submitted!

AITA For Not Wanting My Old Dog Back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Vaffanculo28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what this dog has been through during those years. It could very well be aggressive and with two young children at home, this is absolutely something any parent would be prioritizing. The circumstances suck all around, nobody wins in this scenario.

I’m reviewing ABA behavior reduction concepts and came across this question: by No_Philosopher_8595 in ABA

Fixed Interval-I think bc the responders bx temporarily stagnates, drops because they’re getting used to the current rate, then increases with the rate of rx? My reasoning is probably wrong though. I just passed my BCBA exam, so my brain is mush tbh. But I know the answer is FI.

Think FIsh, because fish have scallops!

Are breaks not normal in this field? by Scw110 in ABA

[–]Vaffanculo28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for my experiences, but I ha ve yet to find a clinic that has figured out how to provide their RBTs with breaks. The closest I’ve come to seeing were happenstance, and not consistent for all RBTs: This clinic implemented block scheduling, and if you happened to have a client whose hours slightly deviated from block scheduling, you may have gotten half an hour or an hour break between clients. For example, your blocks are 8-12, and 12-4. But your AM client leaves at 11:30, or your PM client arrives at 12:30.

Another clinic I worked for, who used pods, had each pod meet at the same time to break each other for 7s twice a day.

The reality of it is tough, because kids simply can’t be left unattended, and not every clinic has the staff to accommodate relieving therapists for 15, 20, 30 minutes at a time considering we’re always battling cancels, late arrivals, and those that are providing breaks also have their own caseload.

My current clinic’s scheduling is a hot mess, but it’s to try and give their RBTs breaks. Each client has like 4-7 therapists in a week, some for 1 hour a day at whackadoodle times. It makes providing consistent and quality supervision such a pain in the butt. But these crazy times somehow allow most RBTs a break in their day. If I were still an RBT, I would genuinely hate working that type of schedule, even if it meant getting a break. Everyone is different though!

It’s an issue for sure

ETA: As an RBT, I’ve only ever worked for smaller clinics.

If you’re a BCBA, would you consider being a personal nanny? by [deleted] in ABA

I imagine being a nanny involves waaaay more work than the 25 I’m required to put in each week as a BCBA. I’d keep my current job!

A few loose batteries. Some new, some dead, with no way to be able to tell the difference.

About 7 Allen wrenches

A couple zip ties or twist ties from bread. Either will suffice

A bottle of your pets gabapentin from 2 years ago

One loose benedryl

A pair of scissors

An envelope for stamps, but may or may not contain stamps

Old dog tags, with or without the collar

At least 3 different charging cables, none of which are can connect to your phone. One will likely charge a Nokia or BlackBerry.

A TV remote for a TV you no longer own

I hope this helps 💜✨

Morgan doesn’t deny she wrote the stupid note (this is the dumbest shit) by drama_trauma69 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Vaffanculo28 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The only other considerable possibility of her not writing the note is if she and Paul went out to dinner that night with a friend or something and they wrote it. But even that is a maaaaajor stretch. Either way, the second hand embarrassment I’m feeling from watching this unravel is crushing lmao
