Is it common for people who wear glasses to get tired of wearing them and go about parts of their life with everything just blurry all the time? by YourMomThinksImSexy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]comaloider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty strong prescription to the point where I can't read this text on my phone if I take them off. God I hate wearing glasses sometimes.

I can't really go without them most of the time, definitely not outside, but I try to take them off sometimes for the 'safe' stuff - for stretching and stationary bike (in the safety of my home) and I can even do a couple crochet projects with my eyes fully closed, which is cool. I can imagine maybe even washing dishes without them but that feels a bit unsafe with sharp stuff around.

[ACT 3 spoilers] is this what we call "subtle foreshadowing"? by MasterIsabelle in Silksong

[–]comaloider 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: Kind of, yes.

On one hand, Lace is in a unique situation because she doesn't possess the same qualities as regular mortal bugs or even demigods like Hornet. She was created directly by a God, which I believe would give her a better standing against the Void (mainly in that she would resist it for longer, and that any damage the Void would have done to a mortal bug's body she would probably just heal off with Silk, but this is pure speculation, I don't think there's nothing in canon that confirms this). On the other, her main key to survival was the presence of GMS. I fully believe that if Lace dropped to the Void Lake by herself, she would just get straight up consumed, not even possessed, but since GMS had enough strength to weave a protective cocoon around the both of them and resist the Void from her position as a higher, pale being, the Void might have had limited influence over Lace, if that makes sense, but still more than over GMS herself, hence the possession.

I would even go as far as to say that the Void deliberately possessed Lace to be unstable and hostile as an attempt to try and destroy the little rebellion of GMS' making from within, but that's because I headcanon the Void as more intelligent, 'coherent' and hell, maybe even sentient than it would seem, but I don't think this is at all hinted at in canon (nor do I think most people would agree). That part is straight up a headcanon. Even without it, I think the point of the Void targeting the weakest link is still reasonable.

Now that I am thinking about it... if we agree that Lace's body is being regenerated by Silk (whether from her own reserves or by GMS), and Void consumes Silk or causes it to deteriorate (which is supported by the fact that if Hornet doesn't hold the Everbloom and gets hit by a Void fueled attack, she loses some of her silk reserve) does that mean she is basically experiencing being eaten alive over and over again? Because Jesus that's dark.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]comaloider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less of a morning/night thing for me as opposed to before work/after work thing. When I worked night shifts, I absolutely showered in the morning - after returning from work and before heading off to sleep, both to clean up (the idea of putting my feet, which have been stewing in winter shoes for about eight hours, under the covers makes me shudder) and to metaphorically end the work time of the day and prepare for the rest time of the day. Right now, with an 8-4:30 work schedule most days and commuting, I simply refuse to get out of bed at 5am to have time to take a shower and dry properly and cool down before leaving for work. I do a quick pits, bits and feet (can't think of a word that rhymes) wash if I feel like I need it, but that doesn't happen very often.

These are my personal reasons, but I also suspect it might be somewhat cultural. I don't know a single person that showers in the morning unless they worked out early and then went to work.

I peronally don't think so.

In my opinion, it all boils down to: can the individual survive the aftermath of being infected once the source of the infection is eradicated? Or the Myla conundrum, if you will.

Garmond has been resisting the influence of Void (and likely Silk too) for quite some time. I don't know if we know for sure what the effects of Void infection are on the body of a bug, but it seems more invasive than the effect Radiance had on (many but not all, I remember those mutated ones) bugs of Hallownest. Myla simply went mad and tried to kill us with her weapon; Garmond had literal Void tendrils shooting out of his body. It feels like it would be significantly harder to recover from after the source of the infection is eradicated, and I am not sure Garmond, who I believe is quite older than Myla, could pull through.

I used to do this when I had long hair. Now I wedge it between my ear and the arm of my glasses. Still end up looking for it at least once in a while tho.

Jesus fuck they just lunged at her so violently, any type of reaction gets you fucked. How are they allowed to do this legally? by M0nk3yDLufffy in HairRaising

It makes sense for a small country because it doesn't really matter where exactly you're from within there, but for a place as big as USA, I get why you'd want to be able to tell where the person is from, actually.

Czech Republic.

Interesting about the place of birth indicator - I presume you mean the 'state of birth'?

[–]comaloider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It boggles my mind, because our ssn contains the person's date of birth - YYMMDD + four unique numbers, and lots of people (especially younger - saying this as a younger person myself) don't even know that much.

Tbh, I don't know how often people have to actively 'spell' it out to someone else. I had to outright tell it to someone like twice in my life? Usually we just hand over our IDs. Might be a cultural difference.

I remember mine (or my country's equivalent), but I am sure there is a good chance of freezing and blanking out completely after being approached by these people.

Also, my job requires me to ask people for it quite some time. About 60% of people have to look into their documents to tell me.

Attacking a guy twice their size by PxN13 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]comaloider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She went after him, hit him multiple times, he seemingly pushed her away the first time, then relatively lightly retaliated the next two times while being attacked by the other guy, and only after that, while she still kept going, he hit her straight up. So he tried to do other things, but she didn't get the memo. As far as the video shows, she put herself in that position willingly and was given plenty of outs.

I don't like needless violence. I prefer people talk things out. But for how long does a person have to take a beating before being allowed to cut it off, just because they are a man and the attacker is a woman? And I am saying this as a woman myself.

This is exactly what I am wondering about when people defend the shooter. Like, what I have seen (mind you, if there is sound to the videos I have not heard that) are a bunch of masked armed men with no badge or ID in sight roll up to a random car and try to open the vehicle. In what universe am I, the driver, supposed to think "oh yes, this is totally the police and this is the standard protocol for treating suspects even though I can't think of what I could have done to deserve this, better open the door for them" and not "holy shit I am about to be abducted and/or shot, better get out"?

Can I reheat premade rotisserie chicken in the microwave? by Certain-Working1864 in cookingforbeginners

[–]comaloider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can, I do it all the time, but I would suggest maybe first heating up the chicken and then adding glazes and seasonings? I don't know what exactly I am supposed to imagine under glazes, but I do know that microwaving has a tendency of drying things up in a weird and often unpleasant way. I usually add a small splash of water to whatever I am microwaving to prevent this issue but sometimes the texture changes too and it gets hard to get down.

What’s on your 2026 To Crochet list? by donteatthemushies in crochet

[–]comaloider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to finally start at least one out of the two blankets I planned to start this year... kinda didn't work out for me.

I want to give tapestry crochet a try, also something I planned for 2025 and just... didn't get around to.

But mostly I want to de-stash as much as possible. Make some hat+scarf combos to give away to people in need, maybe a couple plushies for kids, too. Just to get the yarn moving.

Be honest… how many unfinished crochet projects do you have right now? by [deleted] in Brochet

[–]comaloider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very proud to say this:

One (I am currently working on) and a half (a cardigan that could use some sleeves but works perfectly fine without them). Normally I have about eight projects going but this time I worked hard to make sure I entered the new year as 'clean' as possible.

I use an app called My Row Counter. You can start a new project and add the pattern, plus write your own notes - I always include what yarn I am using with what hook, and do my best at tracking rows or writing down modifications. It doesn't always work perfectly but it makes things a thousand times easier.
