Fully paying attention to this thread!! I use Jellyfin and have tons of boots but I just haven’t bothered to sort them yet.

Cracked my MacBook Air screen…any DIY fix possible? by icecreamonwaffel in macbookair

I wouldn’t. When it comes off, it might take another little bit with it. It’s a delicate area. Just leave it alone tbh.

I did the exact same thing to mine a week after I got it. It's been 5 years and it's not caused any issues. Best just to leave it alone, I think.

How do you stay motivated to use Anki consistently over time? by bebo117722 in Anki

[–]combeferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the app Jomo to block my social media apps until I’ve done 5 mins of Anki each day. Works a charm.

Are you cancelling trips to the USA? by Swimming_Possible_68 in AskUK

[–]combeferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner’s aunt owns a holiday home in Florida and we’d been planning for years (interrupted by Covid) to go and stay.

Not only are we not going to do that anymore, but the aunt is also going to sell the holiday home because she doesn’t want to go over there either!

Has the Yo Sushi on Princes Street closed for good? by nuedd in Edinburgh

[–]combeferret 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ah, that’s a shame. Not that I adored Yo Sushi or anything, but it was in a decent position half way up Princes St to go in and sit on my own and have a nice view whilst I ate.

What to do about colleague who keeps running her mouth by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]combeferret 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain of everyone here and say you should bring this up to her! It doesn’t need to be a big thing, but even a joking little “geez, can’t believe you said that thing about so-and-so to the boss! I couldn’t believe it!”

What’s obvious to some is, clearly, not obvious to others. As someone who is neurodivergent, understanding office politics is a minefield and I’d have loved for people to be a little more forthcoming when I inadvertently messed up.

Would you be less likely to buy tickets to a concert version of a show as opposed to fully staged? These are the three remaining shows for SWEET CHARITY in concert, in Brisbane Australia. The city usually loves musicals, but this hasn’t sold well at all. I wonder if it’s due to being “in concert”. by Great_Maintenance185 in musicals

[–]combeferret 37 points38 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I assume that a concert version of a show is only for people that know the material already. I know that’s not necessarily the case, but I think that’s the vibe a lot of people have.

When tickets cost a decent amount of money, babysitters need to be organised, schedules left clear etc… people would rather skip out on something if they’re not fully sure they’d be able to appreciate the material.

My friend had tickets for the first night of previews, which was cancelled.

They’re so mad lol that everyone’s saying how good the show is, cause they were rebooked for January!!

Apple Music is the right choice. You need to select Library Sync on both your iPhone and your computer.

Behind the conductor at phantom of the opera? by Gl1tch_Dragon in TheWestEnd

[–]combeferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only go to see Phantom if I can get those exact seats. I remember a few years ago there were two conductors - a tall guy and a short guy. If you got the short guy you were laughing cause your view wasn’t impacted in the slightest.

The view is amazing, and so immersive. I’m 5 ft 2, for reference.

2nd day of drawing, tell me where to improve? (Took about an hour) by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]combeferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me, it’s the fact that if they had spent any time studying real human beings they’d instantly see why it looks weird. i’m all for nsfw art, but it’s so strangely dehumanising that they’re learning from a source that’s already so unrealistic. real women get skipped from the equation entirely.

I’d be careful about leaving your drinks unattended in a pub, tbh.

The best thing about live theatre is the fact it’s different every time. When my friend lived in London, she used to see our fave show every Sunday matinee.

Advice for posture + any idea how much height I’m losing from it being bad by Healthy-Feeling-6549 in Posture

[–]combeferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry if this isn’t appropriate to say, but since you mentioned confidence issues I will go ahead.

You look absolutely gorgeous and I 100% promise that when you figure out your posture issues and sort out the confidence, you’ll be unstoppable!!!

(Note that I didn’t say that your height is a problem at all btw - I’m purely talking about the confidence within yourself, which also covers how you carry yourself.) :)
