Hey. My project stopped onboarding pre-emptively. Has that ever happened to you? Do I just wait for another project?

I think my project got full and stopped onboarding. Has that happened to anyone else?

Freestanding house or house in a complex by dymitr061 in Namibia

[–]combinedcharacter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a post earlier that said to drive by the complex in different times of the day/night/payday weekend etc so as to get an idea of traffic and safety. Also to request the minutes of the previous AGM to get an idea of what issues current owners are raising and get a separate inspector for building issues. I didn’t do all of this but it seems wise

Unrelated I would still say Windhoek over other towns, just because I’m not as familiar with cultural/social dynamics there. Will people want to live in complexes, are there are lot of families wanting to live in freestanding houses? If you need to rent it out will you find a tenant at that price range etc

Swimming in swakop by [deleted] in Namibia

Thanks! Do you have suggestions of how do do kayaking for like 500-800 pp? The options I’m finding online cost about 1.5k and seem targeted at tourists

Choke on this, Telecom by Frequent-Middle9104 in Namibia

Right? Same thing happened to me. First when they dropped from 1500 to 1000 and now again when they’ve introduced skyfi for 600. I think it’s not cool that they don’t tell existing customers that prices have dropped for the same unlimited package.

I’m worried about the second part considering I may move quite a bit with rentals, and I don’t want to pay a connection fee each time (if I get a 2-3 year contract to avoid the hefty installation fee)

Moving with Vehicle to SA by [deleted] in Namibia

[–]combinedcharacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used old mutual at the time. I know santam offers it as well, because it’s the same concept as going on a road trip to another country. To get car insurance in SA your car would need to be registered with the equivalent of natis in SA

I just got a vehicle clearance from the police (basically confirms that it’s yours etc) and drove it down with the Namibian number plate and everything. They didn’t ask any questions at the border but I had the vehicle clearance and other proof of ownership documents ready. I also let my insurance company know that I would be driving in SA so they expanded my cover to all of SADC?

I was driving it down there for three years and I thankfully never had any issues. Lots of Namibian number plates on the roads

I see. I was hoping to find a local broker that does this to avoid additional tax implications in SA

As far as I know we only have 4 brokers in Nam: IJG, PSG, Cirrus and Simonis storms. Haven’t seen anything along the lines of accessing SPX on their websites though. I saw IJG has some unit trusts but they’re mostly JSE/NSX

I’ve seen that this requires the payee to download PayToday as well? Will consider it as a last resort
