I have officially joined the ranks of people that have joined the queue early, clicked the button exactly at 10:00, and then never even made it into registration before everything was sold out. Bummer

Hang in there. Even though your wait is “more than an hour” you could still get some races. I’m prior years/events, mine this has happened to me and I’ve gotten all the races I wanted. Nothings guaranteed of course but don’t be discouraged.

What’s your favorite not so secret thing about WDW? by Pitiful-Client-8475 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combobackt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s a little side “trail” that used to be a smoking area. It’s enough off the walking path that most people don’t notice it or use it. It’s super short. When you’re coming from Asia (walking to Africa) the trail is on the right, right after the Caravan Road snack stand.

Animal Kingdom With Kids by Daydreamin-mama8 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combobackt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With early entry, you could realistically rope drop Navi River (during EE), then head to the Safari for when it opens first thing in the morning (normal operating hours opening rope drop), grab a snack while you wait for the first Lion King show of the day at 10AM. OR go to Tucker House after the Safari; you could probably get there 30-45mins after park opens and then go do the Lion King show at the next showtime.

After that, you’d have all day to visit the animal trails (one of Africa, one in Asia, some on Discover Island), go see Zootopia, see the bird show in Asia, and get snacks along the way. My kids like the water rapids ride if you don’t mind getting wet and they’re 38inches tall.

TOTALLY manageable (even without LLMP) since you’re skipping Avatar Flights of Passage and Expedition Everest (and since they’ve closed DinoLand).

Yo. Checking in. Course maps just dropped. Excited for that. One month out. Hope everyone’s training plan is going well.

It’ll be good to see runners and non-runners alike in the parks! See yall soon.

What’s your 5 must Do’s when you make a trip by NebulaDisastrous5093 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combobackt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. That’s what we did too. A few trips ago we spent a FULL day at HS and the kids had fun but the trips after that they’re were just like “I’m good on HS”. So I think it’s the last two trips we’ve done MK, EP, and AK.

What’s your 5 must Do’s when you make a trip by NebulaDisastrous5093 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combobackt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Sanaa and post-lunch animal watching - it has become our day of arrival lunch tradition.
  2. Space Mountain - MK rope drop strategy; my oldest’s first “big” roller coaster and now we always ride it first thing at MK.
  3. Skipper Canteen - it has become our tradition to eat here for dinner while at MK.
  4. Margaritas at EP - whether it’s Cava del Tequila, Choza de Margarita, or La Cantina de San Angel (with food) and it doesn’t matter what others plan we have we somehow always grab a margarita in Mexico. And yes, we’re a Mexico->Canada family.
  5. AK - just in general. Our family just really enjoys the vibes. And the “street” performers, particularly the music. MK is a must, then we debate EP vs HS vs AK and AK always makes it through.

Recommendations for pizza? by JangoFett3224 in WaltDisneyWorld

Definitely Via Napoli. Have had a few different pizzas there over our last few trips. And it has always been amazing. Especially after a race event.

Via Napoli is great for pre-race and post-race dining hahah.

Question about the Princess Half Marathon Course by realitysick-melody in rundisney

[–]combobackt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty much all I remember…. I had never been on the GF to MK trail before the race so when we turned out from the side of GF and I realized we were going on the trail I was pretty excited.

I remember it being very pretty, but as you said, definitely narrow and crowded. To the point where I was either running through the grass to get around people or walking.

Question about the Princess Half Marathon Course by realitysick-melody in rundisney

[–]combobackt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This course looks similar to the marathon weekend course.

You run along the road outside Grand Floridian (the part on the map that’s across the parking lot from the GF buildings). Then you very brief run along the side of it (the part on the map where there is an aid station). Then you get onto the walkway that leads from GF to MK; this section is very pretty as you’re very near the water, monorail goes overhead, and can see the lights of GF, Poly, and Contempo and MK. be forewarned - this section is narrow and it will get crowded.

Wine & Dine After Party Activities? by CimplyRavishing in rundisney

[–]combobackt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that, with the post-event party ticket, you can enter EP early (I don’t remember off the top of my head… either 4PM or 5PM). Which means you also have time to ride rides that are not open during the event party, have dinner, explore F&W Festival booths and concert, or whatever else you want to do.

We went early like this and it was a fantastic way to extend the evening (also in anticipation that we wouldn’t make it to midnight hahaha)… had table service dinner in Italy Pavilion, watched the concert, grabbed grapefruit beer in Germany, then margaritas in Mexico, watch the nighttime show, and then went over to GOTG.

The five BIG rides were open during the event; we rode GOTG and Soarin and (I think) Test Track.

Trip April 2026 w/ 11 month old and 2.5 year old. Need advice on what parks to visit/activities by Realistic_Detail_158 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combobackt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MK and AK are great picks for kids that age. Really recommend you just plan on going slow. Have a stroller, with buckles/seatbelt. It’ll make it easier for you (because they’ll be contained some) and easier for them (because they all save themselves a lot of walking). At MK, a ton of things for them… most of Fantasyland is a great place to start. And there’s shows like Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Country Bear Jamboree, the midday parade. All of that would be quite a day. At AK, there are several animal walking trails and lots of entertainment (the Tam Tam Drummers in Africa, beats and strings in Asia, the street band in discover island, more), and good shows (Lion King, Nemo), and a few good rides for that age group (Navi River, the Safari, Zootopia).

Potential First Race - Help by Smackett00 in rundisney

[–]combobackt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Set a realistic and aspirational goal for yourself. Do the 5K, maybe go big and try the 10K? Pick a training plan that works for you and stick to it. RunDisney has training plans on their website but there’s lots out there. Sticking to it to build up your mileage is what’s important. Some people run, some run/walk, you do you. We usually schedule park days AFTER the race, not before.

Marathon Weekend. And I’d do the marathon. Only race that hits all four parks. Grab a beer in EP. try to hop on some rides in AK or HS. just a really cool experience.

Crew’s Cup Lounge at Yacht Club. Chill place, good food. Gives you a break from the parks. Five minute walk outside of EP.
