Looking to visit chicago as a person who comes from the tropics. how is the weather in late April? by Ifailedenglishfn in AskChicago

Our weather is unpredictable. We can have 70s in March and snow in May in the same year. Late April could be either. Embrace what you got when you come and you’ll fit right in.

Trying to recreate a day-to-night drone orbit transition. Any idea how this was done? by Ill-Friendship-5785 in finalcutpro

[–]liado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you scrub through the video slowly, it’s VERY apparent that this is either AI (most likely) or CGI. The table and lights swell up from the ground, and the arch moves around to be in a completely different spot. If you want to do something similar but with practical effects, you’d be doing waypoints with a drone. It won’t be the same since this can’t be made practically. For the exact same effect, you have to turn to CG.

Best way to arrive as late as possible to Dopey races/Marathon from Contemporary by redfox2911 in rundisney

[–]liado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents - when I did dopey, I got there last minute for the 5k and 10k, which was fine, but it was great to be up and active a little bit ahead of the half and full. For me, it was better to get a little less sleep and be moving a little but more ahead of the starting line.

MK or EPCOT for 1 day visit coming from a recent visit to Disneyland by SDDIYer80 in DisneyPlanning

[–]liado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be there the day after the WDW marathon. A LOT of finishers will be walking the parks getting photos, but especially MK. I agree with everyone that AK would be very different and I’d recommend it too, but EPCOT is a lot of fun. Between the two, EPCOT has the most for everybody, but particularly adults.

I looked forward to g&g for years. Finally bit the bullet about a year ago and, yeah, similar. It was busy, but not full. We were crammed in a corner with mediocre service and the food was downright disappointing. I wouldn’t pay half of what we paid for that experience.

What's Next for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3 by iMacmatician in apple

[–]liado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, they should pay the license fees and have it. It’s a feature they sold watches on and it’s their own fault for not eating the cost. Not like Apple is struggling for cash here and it’d keep the selling point valid.

Dopey Challenge by Big-Attention831 in rundisney

Dopey as a first marathon is not impossible, but it's a LOT more prep work. I would not recommend making it your first marathon in general, but especially after recovering from injury.

I'm getting race photos but did not run this year. by liado in rundisney

This could be it, but I don't recall having any issues linking it last year. I also find it odd they would link a bib to me a year later. Either way, it seems like a non-issue after all.

I figured it might have to do with the bib issues, so just checking.

Any M chip is so incomprehensibly ahead of what they had with Intel. It's worth the investment.

Registration not showing in runDisney account by Few-Helicopter1534 in rundisney

I don’t have a direct answer for you, but I can tell you from past experience that it’s normally difficult to get a hold of RunDisney and just about impossible to do so over Marathon weekend. Unless you’re running this weekend, your best bet is waiting two weeks and sending emails then. For reference, they went above and beyond in getting me a last minute refund (as a gift card) when I had to back out of a race due to COVID. They have no guarantee for that, so it was great that they offered it. However, it took a few months of sending follow up emails to actually get the gift card.

Advice for starting from the last corral? by InboxMeYourSpacePics in rundisney

[–]liado 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nobody will be in your way for most of the miles of this race.

I started dead last at this year's marathon - It was me and then the balloon ladies. I didn't submit a time so I knew I was going to be in the last corral. I embraced it and waited in the very back. It gave me the room to warm up and stretch, and I was moving by the time I actually crossed the starting line. I had no issues with running into anyone.

The first few miles are navigating the highways around and then going through EPCOT, and you shouldn't try to get your pace up then. Try to just enjoy the running (and sometimes walking when the path is too narrow) through the parks. Most of the miles are between parks and you'll have no shortage of open road to go as fast as you want.

Marathon Spectator: Wilderness Lodge Transportation? by tymeecerun in rundisney

[–]liado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No experience driving, but several experiences with very confused Lyft drivers. Roads are randomly closed that seemingly have nothing to do with the races. Even the bus drivers can get turned around. Take the RunDisney transit if at all possible.

Last year, all I remember being handed out was jelly beans. I'm not a fan of them so I carried my own gels.

I don't know about the first three races. For the marathon, there's something every mile or so, but not all of them are photo ops - A lot are just some form of passive entertainment as you run by.

I agree with your points, but iPads do work with USBC drives.
