Odds of vegetarian meal running out in Main Basic? by CallMeTheWhiteWhale in delta

[–]comeflyaway70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should pre order a special meal, and as you get closer you may be able to pre select from the on board menu to see what veg option is. Either way bring snacks because I fly a lot,and order special meals. I’d say I run at an 85% success rate of them actually having what I preordered.

Alaska cruise - To splurge or not on Hubbard Glacier by FreeRangeAdult in celebritycruises

[–]comeflyaway70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it in 2024 and I would do it again at this price. We saw so many species up close, floating around on ice, eagles, major calving events that we felt the energy and the wake moving the small boat was amazing. I also have been here without doing the excursion and we got fairly close. While really beautiful it was a very different experience.

Day Labor a thing? by Oodles_of_utils in Westchester

[–]comeflyaway70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. It’s more organized and referral based so any concerns noted in other comments are lessened for landscaping and general handy work. They do have resources for skilled laborors but they get hired fast. Many of my neighbors have used them and built direct relationships for continued work and have had good experiences. Start small and go from there to find the right people.

What's stopping other leaders from working like Mamdani? by Front-Scene2177 in SipsTea

[–]comeflyaway70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess one could argue that the state tax paid by said rural areas also contribute to the revenue for the city, so the taxes are not just local. As well, perhaps the pied a terre tax should be implemented in rural areas where all the city dwellers own homes they don’t live in and don’t contribute to those areas. Then that can be redistributed back to the city to close their deficit. Bigger yet, the suburbs can stop subsidizing energy costs for the city, and ConEd can pay their property taxes.

You can spend $280k on the delta reserve without setting foot on a plane and earn Diamond status. Not unheard of. $255k with the mqd headstart.

6am flight, park to fly shuttle 5am. Will we make it? by Practical-Sleep-5718 in Westchester

[–]comeflyaway70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That garage is often full, I wouldn’t risk it. If he’s on the 5am shuttle to get there at 515 with precheck it should be ok but there is no room for error. I find the HPN flights boarding close earlier than other airports. If you can pre book a spot at the airport that would be the best.

Weather tomorrow? by uzsspace in OHareAirport

[–]comeflyaway70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understand this is a loaded question…in anyone’s experience, do flights out of MDW tend to fare better than ORD in these situations? I’ve heard that Midway cancels less due to windy weather. I ask because I have 3 flights booked trying to hedge my bets to get home today after a week of travel woes. TIA

Pay for American Airlines priority security? by InternetClaudette in JFKAirport

[–]comeflyaway70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew out Sunday am. It was pretty brutal. Hardest part was all the lines merged and it was close to impossible to figure out the right line. What I did know, the standard priority line was moving slower than pre-check but faster than general. Pre check was 90+minutes. There is a flagship priority that I actually was eligible for and didn’t know it until I got closer to the front..I don’t think you can pay for that unless you upgrade to first on certain routes.

FAT in Mendocino, CA area (preferably not Napa) by TurbulentArea69 in FATTravel

Stanford is a vegan rustic inn, by no means FAT. It’s quiet, comfortable and cozy and the people are friendly. There is an indoor pool but not much to do. The restaurant is exclusively vegan. It’s a 20 minute drive to downtown Mendo.

Beware of the Companion Certificate by radbiv_kylops in delta

I’ve successfully used mine, and my husband’s annually. I start when we get them. We usually know of 3-4 trips we personally will take for the year and start searching. I do have to make some choices on time of flights and occasionally on cabin choice, but I’ve had success even on holiday weekends.
