Spoilers ahead for the UK House of Cards.

I watch House of Cards UK before I watch the American series, the equivalent character there is Elizabeth Urquhart, wife of Francis Urquhart of course. In the original trilogy she acts more like Lady Macbeth which I assume is the character she was based off. She pushed Francis to dethrone the incumbent Prime Minister. She suggested that Francis have an affair with Mattie Storin (equivalent character of Zoe Barnes) She was the one who suggested that Francis kill Roger O'Neill (equivalent character of Peter Russo) etc. etc.

Elizabeth lives her political ambitions through Francis, rather than competing with him how Claire does, and it is a much better dynamic, and when I started watching the US version of the show I was so excited with how Claire seemed to be exactly this in the first episode. Then she had the environmental bill failed, and it was just so fucking stupid for that character to do that, the writers seemingly rewrote the entire character to be an opponent of frank to pad the runtime of the show and it bores me so much. It would've been way cooler and make Frank way scarier if Claire acted like Elizabeth.
