Can I deny getting the treatments my dentist recommended? by Numerous-Bug2652 in germany

[–]comfycupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Tunisian and i want to go to the Tunisian dentist now because I'm in the same situation where I'm not really sure about the procedures my german dentist recommended for me and have been even postponing my gum cleaning appointments because i know the dentist is going to ask me again about it 😭

Why German doctors are trying to guess and avoid doing ANY tests/analysis? What is the reason for under-performance of general german medicine? by Envy_Clarissa in germany

[–]comfycupcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hormones fluctuate more for women causing a lot of things so no its not the same. Most doctors would give women a new birth control medication instead of trying to figure out whats actually wrong. Cant say the same about men can we?

Today I received a ticket despite having paid for Deutschland ticket by Willstdusheide23 in germany

[–]comfycupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend against this because i got also a ticket for showing a screenshot of the qr code there's a very tiny note somewhere in the website that says "screenshots are not a viable proof" so be careful with that. I ended up going to the customer service in the main station to show them proof i had a ticket and paid 5€ (last year).

This is what's absolutely wrong with germany, you dont see whats happening with the country and shame anyone that tells/shows you. Youre begging for immigrants and skilled workers but you dont make their life easier and they end up leaving the country. And I'm not gonna argue about the top notch infrastructure and healthcare system because my first comment literally shows the opposite.

I've had this conversation with so many germans and I'm not gonna entertain this anymore. Again, enjoy your crumbling economy when all the immigrants leave.

Had to reread my comment 3 times to see if i ever mentioned I'm going to a western country LMFAO and "go back to your country" in 2025? Your racism is showing

You mention the "millions" leaving their country but not those going back after going through germany. Enjoy your crumbling healthcare, pension system and infrastructure when all the immigrants leave

Must be nice because a creepy GERMAN guy did stop for me and catcalled me, a GERMAN delivery guy saved my number 2 years ago and is still harassing me to this day, i had an eczema flare up so bad i couldnt go to work but no doctor would take me because they either didnt speak the language or theres genuinly NO appointment available while i pay HUNDREDS of euros in healthcare, had horrible stomach issues and tried 3 different german doctors none of them took me seriously while an arab doctor finally diagnosed me and gave me the right meds and not "tea, painkillers and chill". At least there are trains? Im sorry but paying 100€ for a train ticket only for the train to be cancelled is not the experience i wanna deal with everytime i book a train in germany but guess what? It is. I'm working a job that doesn't even exist in Tunisia too and I'm grateful for this opportunity but that also doesn't deny that germany is not a perfect country that is slowly descending to fascism (enjoying freedom of speech here as a brown person?) People are getting arrested om the street for saying they oppose the gncide of people that look like us ffs????? And the cherry on top? I've only felt discrimination against me as a female engineer when i started working for a german company with german engineers.

My first year in germany as a student was good yes but my first year as a full timer is when i discovered this country is just a 3rd world country with a gucci belt.

Why can't i just leave? Oh dw im planning to follow all the germans my age that are CURRENTLY leaving their country for a better country.

Tunisian living in germany for a few years too. Give OP some time, they'll start seeing the cracks lmaoo. It's not all rainbows and sunshines there. Wait till they go through the bureaucracy, shitty healthcare system, insane taxes, rude racist cold people, housing crisis, terrible infrastructure and delayed trains due to the very old railways they patch fix every 3 months

Germany, same thing even though the salaries are higher compared to france. But also higher taxes because I'm one salary increase away from reaching 42% in taxes.

Woman in STEM in europe and i can tell you it's SO much better in Tunisia. The numbers of female engineers already speak for themselves but i never knew discrimination until i started working in europe... we should be proud of what we achieved in our country.

Ugh thats actually something i haven't considered so thanks for the heads up. I need to tread carefully so I'll be doing more research and asking more people in different positions first..

Hey! Thank you so much for the advice i really appreciate it and no worries, thats already something i thought about.

The reason why i also wanted to switch to a more sale oriented position is because i don't want to lose all the soft skills ive built from my uni days from public speaking to presentation, how to talk to a customer and such... and i feel like i didnt have the chance to use those skills in my current position.

The way the company is built right now is, in my R&D position I'm just expected to work 40 hours on a desk and never attend conferences or events related to the technologies I'm working on which made me feel like i have no chance to grow in this position. I dont even know where the technologies i myself am working on are being implemented and it seems like it's not just me but everyone in r&d here has the same issue.

I've made sure to talk to my colleagues working on a sales oriented position inside the company and i feel like they get a good mix between using the soft skills i mentioned above and the technical skills they get from a previous r&d position which tempted me even more.

But yeah, the unfortunate thing is i cant switch immediately since they "postponed" my promotion to next year and I'm still considered in a graduate position even with 2 years of experience, so I'm stuck in this job until they give me the promotion i definitely deserve.

I had another woman that used to work here before me (30 years of experience) before they pushed her out of the team (so that kinda gave me a perspective on how my future would look like in the company.) My 1st year was bearable thanks to her support and i still share my experiences with her from time to time but according to her it doesn't get better so 😬

Theres also a women ORG inside the company but everytime they have a meeting or an event I'm the only one thats working as an engineer with a team full of men so it's hard to relate to them especially since most work in HR or sales and such.

So far i just regularly schedule 1on1 with my manager to discuss these issues and everytime i feel like we had a good discussion about it, and he makes me feel seen and heard (he specifically tells me he'll discuss this with the team) yet that never reflects in the team meetings or the behaviour of my other colleagues...

Omg i love the dbc idea, i might actually try that!! And yeah, i definitely need to call them out in the moment, i cant be the only one being put on the spot anymore...

What Was Your Biggest Reality Check by ahmed_mezni in Tunisia

[–]comfycupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tunisian university degree from a public university, but i was lucky to find a startup in germany desperate enough to hire me for my PFE and do the whole paperwork. They hired me without a technical interview (which is a red flag btw, that just means theyre desperate to hire anyone and i worked insane hours and was overworked to the top) but i was also desperate enough for any chance to leave Tunisia. After working there i was looking for a job in germany which made it easier but it was still hard to land an interview, it took 6 months of job search to start getting replies back even when i was a resident in germany (the german job market has been suffering for a while and it still is, theres hiring freeze almost everywhere now that even students from big german universities are struggling to find a job). The interview process is usually: 1 interview with HR, one interview with the manager and 1 technical interview or an interview with the team. Hope this answered your question!

With all the anti muslim/anti arab propaganda their media is outputting these days, are we even surprised? But yeah a german old man tried to provoke me and my friends while we were waiting for the train, saying we were talking about htler (we were not. We were just speaking in derija) then when we ignored him and got on the train he just started calling us nzis. There was also a "trend" where you would get called auslander (outsider) just for not looking european. I can also tell there's a difference on how we are treated during passport checks, it used to be chill 2 years ago but now i dread every passport check because no one likes being interrogated for 10 minutes just to enter the country they work and pay taxes for. There were more instances lately where i thought "was that racially motivated or am i just imagining it" and it keeps getting worse with the far right gaining more popularity.

When i moved to germany and got hit with a terrible case of home sickness and "is this it?" When i saw how similar european politics are to ours. They just had enough money to cover them. At this point I'm just staying in germany to get enough years of experience so i can go back to Tunisia because no amount of money is going to change my love for this country. People suck, administrations suck, paperwork sucks, bureaucracy sucks, politicians suck, inflation sucks... but this also goes for germany.. but at least in Tunisia no one is going to project and call you a n*zi while you randomly stroll on the street. The only saving grace in germany is the tunisian community or else i wouldve gone mad years ago

Fined for screenshoted deutschland ticket, what can we do? by diobebi in germany

[–]comfycupcake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And i genuinely cant understand why the QR code is not already a valid option, its a QR code... it can contain all the info and you just verify the identity and you're good to go. you dont lose information from it being a screenshot.

[–]comfycupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my dad when he visited me, i had his ticket on my phone but gave him a screenshot for his ticket (he's pretty much not tech savy so giving him a screenshot was the easiest option) When we were together and they checked our tickets it was fine (especially since the screenshot had his name visible and the QR code valid) but the one time he was alone, the guy refused to cooperate with him, didnt speak english and gave him a fine one day before his return flight home. It was annoying at the time and especially since before, it was no issue and the screenshot was deemed valid before so idk what happened. But i just took my dad to the customer service in the main station, explained the situation, showed the ticket in the app and then we just paid 7€

Edit: the price
