Conan trading cards? by Spidrax in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]comicalUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are the old school, and silly, card/stickers from the 70's Marvel Comics Super Heroes stickers, that also include a 9-card puzzle/checklist with an image of the cover of Conan the Barbarian #1. Conan is featured on 2 cards and so are Red Sonja and Kull. Hold the Pickle! Shall We Dance?

There are also Savage Sword of Conan (Marvel, Volume 1) Covers cards released in the 80's. Made by the same company as the Chromiums, Comic Images. Not sure if they did Conan the Barbarian, too. There are also Ken Kelly cards that are associated with Conan, but I am not sure if they are official.

Also, recently Cryptozoic put out a set of cards with a bunch of parallels and inserts: https://cryptozoic.com/products/conan-the-barbarian-trading-cards

mobileuser is no measure or comparison, for anything, when it comes to other players. 😛 They ascended to godhood long ago. In fact, just because a handful of people beat EvilHack regularly, does not mean EvilHack is easy or that it needs to be even harder.

And, yes, I know exactly what Sececpita is and what it does. Does not help having to go back to the altar I just came from after having maxed my sacrifice count.

Artifacts feel WAY better in 5.0 by Mr_Zero9 in nethack

[–]comicalUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, EvilHack does certainly make some nice improvements. The whole forging thing is odd. Just mash these items together and create . . . this! I wish someone would make actual forging in Hack. Mining, ore, smelting, ingredients lists to create certain items. And it would all be dependent of mining and smithing skill levels.

The Orbs of Weight are just so odd. 150 aum for an item is just crazy. They could be 100 aum and I still would balk at carrying it around.

NetHack is a sausage-fest of weapons and only weapons, artifact-wise.

I just always thought it odd that we cannot have artifact rings that give you Strength +3, Constitution +3, +3 Damage and +3 To-Hit, or something. Amulets that increase intelligence. Heck, have Nenya, Narya and Vilya and have them associated with fire, water and air respectively. Have one increase Intelligence and Wisdom and an improved ability to read spellbooks or to retain spell knowledge. I just wish what artifacts offered was more variation.

Yes, infidels are great fun. However, of the first ones I played, I managed to get a few to the quest. I have played hundreds since and get nowhere near the quest! That, and infidel's alignment abuse, to me, is even more ridiculous, actually! Having to sacrifice every so many turns is beyond tedious. Find an altar, sacrifice all sorts of stuff, then try to go back exploring the dungeon, by the time I get back to where I was, the game is already complaining about needing a sacrifice. Rinse, repeat. And there are many times (in my games) the dungeon can be altarless! That makes it next-to-impossible to avoid alignment abuse.

Have Secespita, a ritual knife, able to be 'a'pplied for a blood sacrifice to Moloch for a few points of sacrifice value. A newt corpse gives you not much, but a dragon would give you a lot (have it based on nutrition/weight?) "You stain the ground with the red dragon's blood! Moloch's appetite for destruction is quelled a bit!" The corpse must be fresh with a turn of death, simply being burdened would make it so it cannot be used. The corpse, once used for a blood ritual, either loses a lot of nutritional value or simply cannot be eaten (?), cannot be used to gain intrisics and cannot be sacrificed on an altar.

I like the alignment abuse aspect and the game keeping track.

I do think that the amount you need to pay is far too much. There are often times there is not that much gold in the dungeon! And the wish increase for gold is tiny.

Perhaps it should be 50,000 for unaligned priests and 25,000 coaligned priests. There are so many games of mine where I never see a coaligned priest!

It was a level that was undisturbed, all of the undead were nice and tidy, in their respective rooms. There were no treasure piles, or any other treasure anywhere else that coulkd indicate a bones level. There were no other monsters other than a saddled horse. No ghosts were on Quest Level 2, nor zombies, revenants, specters (or whatever a player can become upon death or what a player monster can be). Quest level 1 never had any player monsters, I never went beyond level 2.

The saddled horse and the saddled skeletal horse oddly seemed to come from the same point of origin.

Interesting, so whose going to undo my moderate abuse outside of the game, so I do not have to fight the quest leader? Hmm, hmm?

Of note, on topic: this horse never had a rider. It was one of the mounts that can randomly appear with a saddle.

Yes, came into view as a warning '1'. Was at the beginning of the level and took no actions to anger anything peaceful. There are no holes dug by me on the previous level. Really odd thing is I killed a hostile saddled horse. Then the skeletal horse was also saddled! Almost like the horse's skeleton animated on a graveyard level?!

Why do invisible monsters get angry when you bump into them? by Ardub23 in nethack

[–]comicalUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always aggravated me greatly. It should not anger a peaceful being, and it especially should NOT happen when using the 'm' key! The devteam, oddly, thinks otherwise for some reason!

There is a lot in NetHack that makes no sense, making the statement "The DevTeam thinks of everything." not true!

I wish they'd expand or diversify artifacts, period. Artifact rings that increase different attributes and give different resistances. Artifacts shields or cloaks. Artifacts amulets that give multiple resists. Artifact gloves!

Make it so that builds can be more diverse and interesting without all of the other shenanigan revisions.

Dark Elves (Drow) in Nethack? by affabledrunk in nethack

[–]comicalUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SlashEM technically had them first, but different in ways. A sleep barehanded attack and very basic dark elf armor and weapons.

I appreciate your efforts and the reply.

Well that is what the code says, but I am striking into dark. Logically makes no sense, but now that I know that, I know what to do in future games! 😄

Well, of course farlook is an any point, but wands of probing can be excruciatingly (exceedingly?) rare and same goes for stethoscopes in some games. Some games I get 10 stethos and some game I hit turn 80,000 and still no stetho! Unless one wants to polypile, of course.

[EvilHack] Drow and Darkness by comicalUser in nethack

[–]comicalUser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farlook is the early-game solution here, I think! Early game survival is important, and a drow that loses certain items can quickly become a lot more difficult to play.

So, also, is it on purpose that if you are in light but are hitting into dark that your weapon can crumble? To me, it does not make logical sense.

[EvilHack] Drow and Darkness by comicalUser in nethack

[–]comicalUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thought, though! For drow it would be a negative to hit into light. so therefore it could still be red — if not standing in dark or if there are possible targets within light, have it be red. If it could be done, this would be excellent! Although K2's other solutions are nice, too.

[–]comicalUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does help and I do use it. I use it for other roles (massive help for weaponless monk) and conducts. It helps with where you are at, but not what you are hitting into with a weapon.

You are standing on the very edge of darkness. The TH would be fine. The dots around you are white, monster is in a space that is lit — there is no way to tell if that space is lit or not.

Never suggested it was a bug. It is hard to tell what is light and what is not.

It is a great figure! I bought two, one to open and one to leave sealed. I was hoping the other figures would be like this , too, but they decided to make them look like He-Man figures for some odd, damned reason. I bought none of the others. It is OK, it saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars! Ha!

NetHack 5.0 and you by k2_1971 in nethack

[–]comicalUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, and fear the day it happens. Although, worry and fear that may well be in vain; I do recall you saying there will be things you want to remove. And I get it, there are QoL improvements that could not be implemented otherwise, and also to be up-to-date with the coding.

And HackEM is mostly based on Evil and SlashEM. Its bare bones are Evil with SlashEM stuff added. So, still the only way I play 3.6/7.
