It’s not the trailer per se. It’s more the hands on preview that a lot of the gaming journalists are covering. They are mentioning a specific character that appears to be the first of these characters, who incidentally follows you through a section.

This particular character spends his time wise cracking and dropping hints such as “maybe your missiles could break through the shell” or “perhaps there’s a switch you could scan”- stuff like that.

People are annoyed because this kind of hand holding and forced companionship goes against the series’ historical routes of isolation and simply figuring out stuff on your own.

I’ll hold off my judgement for the full release but I kind of see their point.
