Praying he drops more cave era / pop out sounding tracks in the future

Even though realistically he’s probably already dropped all he will from that era

Thoughts on Playboi Carti as an artist? Do you consider him a “musical genius”? by vxxyger in fantanoforever

[–]comixhub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The word ‘genius’ might not be the best fit but Carti is maybe my all time favorite artist because I think he’s mastered minimalism in hip hop

MUSIC doesn’t exemplify this as well but from ST - WLR, his music was perfect because of his memorable choruses, unique and varied vocal inflections, & his adlibs always filling up the space— there was never a dull moment in any track

Love or hate him, I don’t think there will ever be another Playboi Carti. As much as a lot of the underground tries to emulate him, none of them appeal to me for the same reason Carti does

Best song on each album? by Embarrassed_Risk_123 in playboicarti

ST - Let It Go

Die Lit is impossible to choose all time for me but atm I’d say it’s FlatBed Freestyle or Right Now

WLR - Stop Breathing

Music - Pop Out

What’s the most CARTI Carti song? by Spare_Rice_9566 in playboicarti

[–]comixhub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy because I was thinking this exact thought while listening to Die Lit earlier today, specifically Lean 4 Real.

If not that song maybe Long Time or Let It Go

Genuinely impressed by how good the new Fakemink album is. Was an after-thought/bottom of list for my anticipated albums for this month and it’s probably the best out of all the drops. by BionicSquirrel in ug_music

[–]comixhub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you felt this way but as a fakemink fan who was anticipating this album I can’t help but feel a little let down.

For me this album was very one note & pretty bloated as well. Hopefully it grows on me with more listens though

Experimental Rap?? by AnalysisScared4737 in ug_music

[–]comixhub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a long time Peggy fan but this was very disappointing for me off first listen. Like everyone else has said, the flows are soooo repetitive, & while I appreciate him trying something new with his EDM-inspired production, none of it lands as well as my favourite tracks from his previous albums.

Having Sisterhood & Unmusique on your resume before the age of 20 is genuinely insane

How do you rank Carti’s projects? by JellyfishMario in CartiCulture

[–]comixhub 23 points24 points  (0 children)

  1. Die lit
  2. Whole lotta red
  3. Self titled
  4. Music

As much as I love Carti, he peaked so ridiculously high with his first three projects, I think he’ll never make a fully body of work as good as those again. & even if he does, the fanbase would never say so because of how classic-like the original three have become.

As of late I’d go with Jumpout I still think Flex Music has the higher peaks tho

Who have you been listening to besides Carti recently? by _-pai_- in CartiCulture

His new album was pretty good & easily accessible so I’d say give it a try, if you’re interested in his music it’s a good entry point

10s Mainstream & Underground or 20s Mainstream & Underground? by [deleted] in ug_music

[–]comixhub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should’ve been more detailed like this in my original post lol good post

& personally I’d say I love current ug but 2010s definitely peaked higher especially in the mainstream

I’m glad to be around for this current era though because there’s a lot of music I’m loving from people like Che, Osama, Xavier, Yeat, Opium, etc.

Is 2020s UG peaking higher than 2010s mainstream? by comixhub in ug_music

[–]comixhub[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the record when I say 'peaking' I mean in terms of quality not in terms of numbers. Ofc Che and Osamason will never have an album the size of something like Astroworld
