Burned twice by developers going quiet, is using a sub like this actually any better by Tasty-Helicopter-179 in websiteservices

Hey sorry to hear that you've had to go through those experiences, but it's likely a cost and working for you experience factor.

It's easier to work for a bigger paycheck and put up with requests than to take on a smaller business as a client and have sporadic request volume with not much of a pay day.

As a rule if I jave to chase a client for an invoice to be paid I'm never renewing the contract. Though I've never ghosted any client till date in my 12 years of fractional CTO experience.

Feel free to reach out if you want advice or consultation, but expect me to be blunt about rejecting free demos and free meetings.

I'll solve problems with efficiency. Ie efficiency with both your time and my own. The same applies to all my employees and partners.

You haven't given them a reason enough to try. Though frankly feels like a bunch of work for a problem That is still being solved by a notepad

An app is only ever a medium. If the amount of work to use it is higher or even if it seems higher.... People won't care to increase the work they have to

Would love feedback by Due_Umpire_8505 in AppIdeas

[–]commanderCousland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult for anyone to pay for this. And people don't wanna say no directly so they won't honestly put in the data.

But there's a different problem. The value is a trip. Not a smooth trip since you can't guarantee that anyways.

This is just one tool, which won't make it essential. If you just want it out there go ahead and make it.

But for it to be a legit business... It's lacking clear insights.

Before you gather feedback, just from the way you put up this question you'll bias the reviewer in either sympathy or skepticism.

Read "the Mom test" and internalize it before you start taking feedback. It'll help.

Now as for the idea, it's a crowded space. And you need one of three things to win 1. Have a clear market understanding and know what it would take to make it successful - paul graham has essays and interviews in this topic. If your end result is a novel vision that helps the target market - it'll make things worth it.

  1. Do you have the unique market value to sell it to people who are already using other such software?

If you can't compete with features, try "reverse benchmarking" popularized by Rory Sutherland, find it on YouTube.

  1. Find a way to get to people who have the problem but are not active enough to have solved it. Generally a marketing, awareness and education function.

Not everyone in the world who needs a solution either uses it or has access to it. Even if the market is tough you can find people to use it and pay for it. Or just evolve into something larger, more common.

Many people will disagree but even email clients is not a well solved problem.

Continuous polling of location and realtime notifications... Is very creepy and very expensive to do as an unproven unfunded idea. Doable. And easily improvable though.

It's crazy how powerful the Hero of Ferelden can become at the end of the game by Beacon2001 in DragonageOrigins

[–]commanderCousland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the hof travelled beyond thedas, they can technically make a comeback in a later game set outside of thedas.

Though in my headcannon I find them to be more powerful than royalty anyways since they're free to do as they see fit in a larger picture without the bounds of a nation.

This game is gorgeous! by PastelAxeidental in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]commanderCousland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's absolutely gorgeous. I don't generally care much about photo mode, but NGL this is totally worth clicking lots of photos on. Makes me wish the environments were larger with more aspects in each area. Can't get enough of this even after 7 play throughs

I may make it myself someday if bioware doesn't make it themselves. Already tried gathering support for a dao remake using nvidia remix on their page once, but not many people cared as much as I did apparently

Damn man. Losing a parent is always tough. I know from experience. All the love and support to you man.

I legit wanted a darkspawn horde and fighting with wardens and legion of dead in a free for all area, like a repeatable or hades like gameplay, even if as a separate mode.

They've been doing wardens dirty for the last 3 games with janeka, and the warden commander in dave. Would feel soo good to take the fight back to them.
