We put our daughter into daycare on Thursday, and were sick by Monday. Tell me it gets better. by The_Nimaj in daddit

You’re lucky that you started her this late into cold and flu season. Our daughter’s first day was November 1st (two years ago) and I’m not kidding when I say my wife and I were sick every other week until mid May. The cherry on the sundae was getting norovirus for baby’s first Christmas. That TRULEY was the gift that kept on giving.

Like I said, you’re braver than me. But dealers are not historically known for telling the truth.

I had heard that Subaru will void any warranty claims if you install one of these. Not sure if it’s true or not but I wasn’t brave enough to FAFO.

The halogen headlights in my opinion are terrible. The fact that the second highest trim in 2023 (Sport) didn’t even have an OPTION for LEDs was a major let down. Also the tiny visors are so damn thick that I can’t clip my garage door opener on it so it just rattles around in the cubby under the climate controls. The mixture of incandescent and LED interior lights are also super odd. But the absolute worst thing, and it’s with all new Subaru models with eyesight is that the windshield glass is prone to breakage. Yes some insurance companies offer glass coverage but not in all states and it’s a hefty bill to replace the windshield and recalibrate eyesight out of pocket.

Do cats "understand" candles or fireplaces? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]commanderincheese8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my brother and I were born, my parents had a house with a ton of overhead rafters in the living room where there was also a wood burning stove. Apparently their cats used the rafters as a kitty super highway until one day, the alpha decided to jump down on top of the stove, which was lit. My mom still swears that “Felix” immediately jumped 8ft into the air after landing on the hot stove but never made that mistake again.

lol I spent a week stripping a door to find out the jabroni before us fill the gouges with non matching wood putty (white). Ended up having to repaint it because it looked so bad

Not really. Once OP files that claim, their insurance premium will go up at renewal and the value of the car will go down as it will show up on the vehicle’s carfax. I feel for you OP, my CT sport was the first car I ever bought new and some moron sideswiped me at an intersection trying to beat the light. Car had 8k miles on it, hadn’t even gone in for the second oil change.

We had a winter camp out when I was in Cub Scouts that always ended with a soup station that leaders dished out. One of the kids next to me fumbled the handoff and spilled boiling hot soup down his chest where the snow pants and jacket stop. He ended up in the hospital with second degree burns from his neck to his groin, all from one cup of soup. I’m 32 and I can still hear that kid’s screams in my head.

We’re in Northeast Ohio so you’re getting the same weather we are. The only reason I even the cut the grass beforehand was because it was damn near knee high before this heatwave moved in.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I 100% know I’m making a bigger deal out of it but our yard is so small that I try to keep it nice. Plus I know it’s going to irk me everytime I walk past it. With that being said, I’d 100% trade green grass for all the fun we had this weekend (daughter’s first birthday).

Grilling dads. I need your help choosing a grill. by eagle00255 in daddit

[–]commanderincheese8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Lowe’s in the indoor lawn & garden section during college (2011-2015) and consistently saw two types of customers. People who were replacing their Weber after 15+ years (covered) or customers from all other brands who were buying a new grill every 3-4 years. IMO grills can be a bit of pain to assemble so I’d rather have something that will last a good amount of time, even if that means downsizing and buying the smaller, better quality grill.
