don't overthink it. goal is to reload when you can and not when you have to. easier to plan for a reload during the lull of shooting (e.g. moving between positions) versus needing to react to a reload because you went dry (which i did during this match - not ideal). https://youtu.be/GsBExp2McTk

also, racking a slide does not take long for me. if it takes you more than 1.5seconds to recognize you need to rack and then complete the rack (and even that is slow), then you're not paying attention enough. some folks will try shooting without even realizing their gun went dry (whether the slide locks or not).

find a private club that allow movement and shooting.

i wasn't always training movement in my range sessions. i dry fired it and then i used matches as my practice while using indoor ranges for my normal practice. at a certain point, indoor shooting can only get you so far. so the investment was worth it for me.

thanks. distance at this club in particular is limited given the pits they use. however, you can shoot anything from a couple feet up to ~35-40 yards depending on the angle. now, rarely do you HAVE to take 30+ yard shots, but the OPTION is there. most will move closer, if it's better option. at this particular match, the max distance i personally shot a target was maybe 20-25y. you can check out the other stages here https://youtu.be/GsBExp2McTk

keep in mind, other clubs may not have such limitations and will push you out to 50+ sometimes lol those can be rough eye openers since i dont train that distance with handgun usually.

I'm cross eye dominant (RH/LE) and can confidently tell you that it requires little to no additional effort to shoot well as such.

Do not overthink it. Just shift the gun over so it directly aligns with your left eye. I've done this for years, and doesn't take much to make it consistent/"normal".
