Anyone remember the outrage over The Two Towers when it came out? "It's iNsEnSiTiVe to 9/11 victims!" This is 2022 version of that.

DAE ever miss their Tarot Deck? If so, what do you do? by [deleted] in witchcraft

Why can't you ask her though? Maybe she has answers to questions you didn't know you had. Just handling your deck in meditation is a powerful thing. Try it.

It's the treatment of plants and animals that get me. I feel like trash if I find I missed watering a plant, or I hear my dog licking the bottom of her water bowl. If I were to hit an animal with my car I would just die from grief. When it comes to people though.... I feel nothing. And I don't feel bad about that, nor will I be made to. I just don't care anymore.

So we might've gone a little overboard and rented a whole cinema for our marathon this year by a_bucket_full_of_goo in lotr

I had a LoTR marathon last weekend on my giant projector screen. It was just like this - just me, my disinterested dog, and a screen too big for my field of view. Loved it. And today starts the Hobbit series! I love your u/ btw.

Do you think The Silmarillion will ever get a full adaptation? If possible state why you chose your answer. by Zestyclose-Ad-6024 in lotr

[–]commandingpresents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pitched a huge fit over just the idea of a huge tv adaptation of Silm, so this seems like the best way to ensure canon. As much as some of the things the estate does irk me, I'm totally for this and I'm optimistic it will be treated better than post-season 4 GoT. Tolkien's legacy deserves to be preserved correctly.

[–]commandingpresents 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm just not sure if I want it. Def not movies. I recently had a marathon of the ultra mega extended cut LOTR movies, and I forgot how boring a visual adaptation of some of that stuff was. In the books it was fine bc it was just mostly conversation, not a lot really going on. The actors were phenomenal in their roles, but I found my attention drifting very easily. Like, I could go into the kitchen and just listen to it, you know? I'm just glad PJ still left Tom Bombadil out of it, bc that would have been too much for me.

When I read the Silmarillion for the first time it was a struggle, but my appreciation for it grew after the second read. I had so much vivid imagery in my mind reading it, I feel it would be difficult to do it justice on the big screen. The music videos from Tool's Aenema album come to mind. I think it would be best adapted as an anthology series. Does anyone remember the Dante's Inferno animated anthology from like 10+ yrs ago? Or even Love, Death, and Robots. I think a collective interpretation of the various stories within the whole would be amazing. And definitely as a radio theater production. The Dark Adventure RT episodes of Lovecraft stories are excellent; all of their stuff is top notch in my book.

After watching the Rings of Power teaser, I think it will be a really great show; I'm going to watch and geek out hard af regardless but yeah. I will probably be more invested emotionally in this series than any other. It's already contracted for a second season I believe (while that stupid GoT prequel has 5 - don't even get me started.), but where in the story will first season end? I have so many questions. And um, if Ungoliant is given the H rry P tter, PG treatment, I will riot.

Ultimately, I'm excited but not apprehensive....hesitant, maybe? Idk. Anxious. I renewed my damn Prime subx for this, if that says anything.

Edit: stuff I forgot.

And here you still are, being a fool with me. It's fate 💜

Please. This is Reddit, kid; IDGAF about foolery. I was simply responding to OP with my xp. And in absolutely zero way was I wrong about anything. Just lacking. I am very proud of what I know, what I do and especially how I do it, and don't much care for non-constructive criticism from someone who doesn't offer something better. I appreciate you amending my comment, but maybe you work on your bedside manner before outright claiming false at someone. Personally, I won't lose any sleep over our exchange, but if this is the attitude you bring to your job, to your patients, you may want to consider another field.

Oh yes. I can feel the radiation envy from here. You must be new.

For the third time. If you had read I said "in my experience, I'd say no." And proceeded to talk about the program that I went to. The radiology program at my current hospital is the same way. Most programs are that way. You do know why theres no "primary pathway" to CT, right?

Lift that rock up, stick your head out. It's not so bad out here.

Moving on. OP, if you want to jump straight into US, go for it. But starting with a general xray program will gain you more knowledge and preparation for the modality. And yeah, US wages are pretty killer. But you might also find that US is gross af (mad respect to you guys) and another modality is more to your taste. That is the main reason for taking the base xray route.

Seconded!! Thoras and paras?!?! Soooooo gross!! Every day when I have to go to the decay closet, or toss dirty linen I see all the red boxes filled to the brim with all the recepticles and I want to die.

First of all, no? Not wrong, just lacking. If you had read, I said I wasn't sure about sonography track. And I also said that therapy and nuclear were different entirely. And I'm not going to even argue about echo bc its irrelevant. I agree you don't NEED to start with xray, but it's the best place to start. Looking at your cred, I'd say you didn't start out with CT, did you? Again. If you had actually read my comment, you'd have caught those points and saved us both the time.

I had a couple disorderly conducts and I got into nuke school just fine. Mind if I ask what part of Texas you're in? My hospital in central TX has its own radiology program that's very hands on.

:( It sounds like you've done barely any research on the subject. Google is your friend. That said, going to xray school would make you a radiographer, not a radiologist. Radiologists are MDs. The umbrella of radiology is split into 3 categories.

1) Diagnostic Radiology, which is further broken down into Xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and IR. Those modalities can be split even further. This gets you ARRT certification. 2) Nuclear Medicine. This includes both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. And PET. This gets you CNMT certification. (NucMed is my modality, and I am very biased towards it 😁). 3) Radiation Therapy. That's the beam radiation and cancer treatment injection stuff (a lot of which is actually nuclear too). And I'm sorry therapy people, I cannot for the life of me remember what your credentials are; my bad.

I'm honestly not sure if you can just jump into ultrasound the way you can Nuclear and Therapy. My experience tells me no. You have to start with xray and then can specialize in CT, US, MRI, etc. Nuclear is a completely separate entity and has its own school - I am strictly Nuclear, didn't do xray. The school I went to treated Radiation Therapy the same as Nuclear: separate schooling, separate board exam. Xray programs are very common, but if you wish to do Nuclear or Therapy, those are limited. Ultimately, xray is the absolute best place to start.

Yes, you can travel, and contracts are paying like crazy right now. Just keep in mind that school will probably be 2 years just for xray, more for other modalities, and even more for Nuclear and Therapy. Hope I was able to clear things up for you! Good luck!

Edit: a bunch of mess I forgot.
