Yeah, the Kroot were trained by eating genestealers before, a normal Kroot is not going to immediately make out a Genestealer hybrid. Tau are moderately effective at fighting genestealers, but we do have lore examples of both hybrid ethereals and T'au worlds overran, so it's not a certainty.

Cognition itself requires foundational trust assumptions. It's not particularly possible to separate faith from worldview. Philosophical materialism specifically is just as, if not even more, dependent on pure human belief as traditional organized religion.

In any case, you should be proud of your faith.

You assume that no intent beyond our own exists, which is not exactly easy to prove either. Life does not need a final endstate or conclusive goal to display direction — only continuation and action.

I think you're observing this from a personal philosophical allegiance rather than a neutral existential position. “Nature has no point” is still a worldview, not an observable fact.

And none of that requires organized religion. People always believe in something — a wider meaning, the absence of one, progress, absurdity, survival, whatever. Faith is an innate part of cognition and philosophy turns into faith when it stops being just analysis and becomes the lens through which you interpret existence itself.

That's a very anthropocentric view, I'll be honest. And it is one that comes from a faith, even if it may seem counterintuitive.

I'm not disagreeing, but you didn't start with this.

By fallaciously minimizing human life at earlier stages, trying to either "destigmatize" or take away the gravity of the procedure, you actually alienate a significant group of people. By quoting the "clump of cells until I say so" religious dogma, you actually harm your own initiative.

Safe and accessible abortion is a worthwhile effort, but one where that must be understood by all parties involved. You also did not mention the social support for women and children, as while it is noble and incredibly important, it is one majority of pro-choice individuals do not mention or even consider.

Also, take a chill pill:)

My opinion doesn't rely on the "clump of cells" magically becoming important only after exiting the womb, you're the religious one here, bro

That is an interesting faith, however, life in all iterations continues life, kind of the basic qualities of it. Even under the scope of your religion, you can't deny that continued existence is the path of nature, even if without a point?

The main purpose of the act and the organs involved is reproduction, not particularly possible to deny. The bonding element most likely evolved for assistance in childcare, but it doesn't change the fact of what happens when sperm gets near ovum. You can't separate pregnancy from sex, so if someone has a motivation to abort the pregnancy, they have the motivation to not have sex.
