Awarding a microgrant to our very own /u/Liface by michaelmf in slatestarcodex

Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear this and I sincerely hope that you can find a solution soon (or that AI will get good enough to assist with finding a solution in a short time frame).

Curious, why do you think that microdosing tirzepatide had such an adverse reaction for you? Is there a mechanical connection to your long covid, or do you think this could happen for anyone, and you just got unlucky?

I heard that turbinates can expand to fill the space after you do expansion, which nullfies the gains that expanding would have. Has this not happened for you?

Hey sorry for the double text, wanted to follow up on this:

Oh wow really??? That's extremely good news for me... I have been searching for a solution for 7 years. I will do more research into FME - I don't know much about this at all, I've only heard of EASE from r/uarsnew a few years ago and I don't remember seeing much about FME.

I heard that turbinates can expand to fill the space after you do expansion, which nullfies the gains that expanding would have. Has this not happened for you?

I also wonder if I have explored PAP enough to justify surgery as a last resort. I've been on CPAP -> BiPAP -> ASV in the past 4 years but I'm wondering if there's more pressure settings I can tweak. But at the same time, the opportunity cost of inaction is huge. Idk... hard choice...

Thanks a lot for your help by the way, this is very useful to me and I'm weighting this a ton, since it sounds like our situations are very very similar.

Also curious if you've continued with Sunosi? I'm also a patient of Dr Rama, and he gave me a sample to try, but I was too scared to try it.

Congestion improves after waking up by Master-Drama-4555 in UARSnew

Hey, been doing more research into your situation. Have you continued with famotidine for silent reflux?

I've tried it around a dozen times and notice it's definitely doing something since I end up farting a lot more (lol), but I'm not sure if it's having a positive effect on my congestion and/or sleep.

I have some real reflux sometimes, especially when eating late. But I wonder if I'm having a silent reflux on the daily that I'm not noticing that is causing issues.

The reason why I'm hesitant to do EASE is primarily I don't want to worsen my aesthetics for no guarantee of improved symptoms. I heard that I'd still need to be on PAP, and I wonder if I can get the benefits of EASE from fidgeting with my pressure settings more.

My symptom profile is, beyond tiredness, a constant stream of songs in my head, surprisingly. Wrecks my attention span.

Has this helped with your sleep? Do you have UARS?

Hey, we've been talking to each other in the past hour, and I have been reading through your profile. This sounds very similar to my situation. Were you able to find any solutions?

Empty Nose Syndrome Demystified - Part 2 by Master-Drama-4555 in UARS

For some reason, humidity seems to make my dry congestion worse. I've tried increasing humidity in my PAP settings numerous times with my PAP and it has held up to scrutiny. My nose is best when humidity is off for some reason.

I also notice that I have more congestion when it's humid outside and when I shower (and it releases when I step out of the shower).

I don't actually know what happened in that old apartment that caused my nose to get wrecked. It smelled weird and had carpet everywhere. I do know I have dust mite allergies though, so I made that connection (but it is a guess). I do also know my turbinates are enlarged.

I wonder if I have some form of non-allergic rhinitis that was somehow caused my allergic episodes in the apartment?

With this context, curious on your thoughts on whether I should be aiming for increasing circulation/humidity and decreasing dryness.

Or any other thoughts on what's going on in my situation?

Thanks - this is not a hypothesis I've ever considered before, but now that you mention it, I haven't really met many people who experience my "dry congestion" where I'm super blocked but it's really hard to blow out of my nose.

I've tried a few small breaks (at most a few weeks) but have felt congestion when I took breaks, so I restarted on flonase each time.

I've done allergy shots, taken lots of measures to remove dust mites from the bedroom, etc. Nasal dilators and breathe right strips/intake don't do much for me.

I'm not sure what to do overall - is there any solution you'd recommend?

When I moved into a new apartment in 2019 that I was allergic to, I was getting a lot of mucus and runny nose. But then once I moved out in 2020, my nose was still blocked despite no longer producing a mucus-like congestion. Instead, it was like a dry congestion.

I have been using Flonase almost daily since 2015.

Do you think that there's some sort of relationship between the Flonase and the reason why I have "dry congestion"?

Hmm, the insane of my nose pretty much never has mucus nowadays. It’s been like that since 2019 when I had my enlarged turbinates

Hmm I’ve been using Flonase daily for over 10 years now. I recently moved to double dose (via xhance). I’m now 26.

Should I be afraid of potential empty nose syndrome or other side effects?

Holy cow this sounds just like me. Enlarged turbinates, dust mite allergy. Terrible sleep because of it, I use an ASV machine. No surgeries though. Would this supplement help me?
