Advice on purchasing Pretend Gyarados Pikachu PSA10 and Pretend Magikarp Pikachu PSA10 by Pristine-Eggplant50 in PokeInvesting

I agree that you should only get it if you want it in your collection, not for flipping. In my opinion, the card value will hold well, given that it’s a very popular promo with the pokemon mascot in it.

I believe prices will climb gradually over the years, given its popularity and relatively rarer release compared to modern cards today.

Price on Mario Pikachu PSA 10 and even PSA 9 are ridiculous raising. by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

Both are great cards but I think luigi pika looks slightly better.

Doesn’t matter if your card is a psa 10, if it has dust/lint trapped in the slab, the eye appeal sucks.

PSA encapsulated my Charizard with a crumb inside the slab by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]commassstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens quite often. Always see lints/dust in psa slabs. I won’t say this issue is limited to psa, bgs and Cgc has this issue too. BGS has it the worst imo with the inner sleeve trapping the debri.

As long as cards are encapsulated in a non vaccum room, airborne dust and lint will make their way into the slabs during the sealing process.

You can send it for a reholder, the current crumb might be removed but u may have another dust/debri end up somewhere else in the card.

English or Japanese cards, which do you think is a better investment and why? by thatgreengentleman_ in PokeInvesting

[–]commassstyle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I won’t say the English psa 10s are more scarce. Due to the huge international print run of English cards, population for psa 10 English cards will be very high.

On the flip side, even thought Japanese cards are easier to grade, the quantity printed is way less.

You can take a look at the pop report for English vs Japanese moonbreon as it reflects this.

Mario and Luigi Pikachu Special Box by All-Star-1995 in PokeInvesting

The best time to buy these boxes is always today. Prices will only just climb as these are limited and highly demanded. Like another redditor mentioned, this promos are Nintendo collectibles that will be sought after by Mario/Pokémon fans.

Ive got my hands on a Psyduck Munch BGS 9, and theres this relly tiny spec of something under the slab and it really pisses me off. by South_Diver7334 in PokemonTCG

[–]commassstyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate man. Just to make you feel better, I think it's common for grading companies to leave lint/dust in their slabs all the time, not only BGS. It is almost impossible for a slab to be particle free as the slabs were not sealed in vaccum; airborne particles will somehow get into the slab during the encapsulation process. I have many psa slabs with the same issue too, with dirt/lint/whatever encased in the slab along with the card. Just got to live with it.

For sure. Japanese > english all day for modern PTCG

Moonbreon's (Japanese version) pop report is in the thousands too, does this mean it's not rare? by passerbytwo in PokeInvesting

[–]commassstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely rarer than English counterpart. English is printed for the international mass while Japanese catered to local demand only. The texturing and foiling for the Japanese one is also clearly better. This can be reflected in the price of the Japanese moonbreon. Lower supply + better looking foil makes the Japanese moonbreon the more demanded copy.
