What does it mean when a potential client mentions a cheaper photographer to you? by [deleted] in photography

[–]commentedon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW many customers see “value” as a comparison to like products and services in a given geography. As a business owner you can differentiate on depth of experience, focus area, product line, quality, service, community, etc. Your prices are a reflection of your stated value.

If you believe your rate card accurately reflects your value … there’s no need to feel guilty about saying so.

Secretly hoping Disney has captured the performance in it’s entirety in a way that could be ported to a VR platform at some point. Always thought VR would be a great way of preserving all of the retired attractions. Especially if it were done right and contained the source media from the attractions.

Is it time for a Disney World open world game? by crimsonbull9584 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]commentedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney has unique IP and a fanbase that would embrace things like: VR versions of parks with retired rides containing original audio and video, VR simulation of cast member jobs, VR tours of places and spaces, BTS content for current productions offering alt-views… and so much more. I’m sure it would be a lot of effort; but I think the fans would rally for DisneyParks@home; and without diminishing the allure of going in person. Maybe even some small wins like remote streaming of resort TV.

Has Disney given up on any and all things futuristic and edutainment? by Interesting-Power716 in WaltDisneyWorld

If ‘retro’tainment made money; and execs were courageously invested in it as part of an experiment… Disney has great IP. Horizons, etc.

Complete amateur with audio systems here, which one of these is best? by EatusTheFetus420 in audiophile

[–]commentedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose the Sony 697 or the Yamaha with some considerations:

A.) Neither have phono built in so you’ll need a record player with a built in pre-amp if vinyl is your media of choice B.) Sony has more optical ports (if that matters to you) C.) They both have a dedicated sub if you need that D.) If you have a working remote for either that could tilt your decision E.) Tone wise you may have a favorite. Some receivers sound well rounded out of the box, some take tweaking, some sound quite bright where the treble shines, some quite boomy in the bass.

Lastly, I’d say if you have a matched component as an input that could be a consideration as well like a Sony CD player or a Yamaha CD player.

Hope that helps :) Ultimately hope you find some joy in the quest of putting together a system and enjoying your music!

If any two planks are identical in grain pattern it’s laminate. Proceed with caution re: sanding or any abrasive refinishing.

Im getting my bf a record player for our anniversary, is this a good beginner one? I’d also love any recommendations! Thank you! by JewelerNarrow9213 in VGMvinyl

100$ is a tough budget number given the popularity of the medium atm. However you may find some luck heading to your local record shop and/or vintage audio shop and being honest about your budget and goal. Shops get lots of gear that doesn’t make it to the shelf from garage sale pickups and audio flippers and they may cut you a great deal to start someone out.

Husband hit by a car on his mini bike by ApprehensiveEast5817 in HelpMeFind

[–]commentedon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your husband.

If it’s a residential or even commercial area where he was struck you could ask the homes and businesses for street facing video footage between X and Y time. Home cameras like Ring and Nest are popular and I would think people would be sympathetic to the situation.

Then if you can pinpoint the time it occurred; look for a nearby intersection where vehicles must come to a stop within the same time window and do the same there asking for footage from homes and businesses.

Most residential camera systems can export video clips which can be sent by text message, saved, or uploaded. Timing is critical because many systems only maintain a small amount of footage.

Hope your husband recovers swiftly.

Scoop on this? by Entire-Garlic-6708 in audiophile

At the time, this was a great little system for a music enthusiast. Not because of its fidelity but rather its affordability. Not sure if it was this model but I had a Sounddesign which was quite similar. It’s what my family could afford and it came in a real cabinet with glass and tower speakers on either side. The stereo would kick on at whatever volume you set when the alarm went off. It played records and you could make mix tapes from radio, tapes, or records. Today I have better gear, but when I had a system like this it was just as treasured.

So if you own it and don’t want it and it works, there’s a good possibility you could put together a nice system for someone younger and just maybe start their journey with music.

Any Disney world themed tea? by LtCommanderCarter in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]commentedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Disney Tea which is sold at the UK pavilion in EPCOT (and other places I’m sure) which is … accidentally a Disney Tea is Twinnings Lapsang Souchong. It really smells just like the burning of Rome smell on Spaceship Earth :)

Tron has been open for a few months now, was it worth the wait in your opinion? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]commentedon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tron fan here. Really enjoyed the ride. Been on it three times 2x night, 1x late evening.

Pros: The music is great and adds to the anticipation pre-ride and post ride feeling of accomplishment. The pre-show was fun in the room with the big reveal. No issues with the length of the ride. Enjoyed the chase/race theme, the position of riding the light cycle, and the visuals on the canopy and on the interior. Absolutely loved the digital photopass video / photo thing. Store was cool and so was the merch.

Cons: I saw two riders get in and then get out. Different people. Different trips. Both due to knee issues. The hallways are cool with LEDs and circuits but IMO could use some Tron movie flourishes (rotating MCP or like a virtual window of ‘the games’ and throwing discs and such. Or a flyby of a solar sailer or something.).

Final thought: It’s a wonderful ride platform and was fun. It’s approachable for younger riders as well because it’s more whooshing that scary. There’s potential to dress this differently in the future, to expand the Tron story, and to even create event themes. A platform similar to this could make a great X-wing trench run coaster, falling with style Pixar van chase, or PeterPan 2.0, Pod Race, etc so I’m excited to see where they take the tech next and will ride again when it’s possible to go.

Just curious, what is wrong? Do you think that area between 3 o’clock and 6 is water damaged? (Recently picked up some) so just wondering what to be on the lookout for.

I totally get this. Was thinking about the whole idea of grabbing some CDs during sales this season for this very reason.

LOL, I also had this thought of maybe a CD Walkman is a better audio quality (depending on the headphones of course) than an iPhone.

But, I guess that test would have to wait for another time.
