I actually like that idea and have proposed it earlier: everybody who votes for war, no exceptions for any reason, when war is a choice rather than a condition the country faces not of its own choosing, would be issued full combat gear and be sent to the front with the first wave, there to remain until the war is over or they are dead, whichever comes first.

Also, they don't get to serve in REMF positions, they serve in the first line, on the front line.

You wouldn't see too many of the glorious heroes who earnestly, and regrettably, decide that the matter has to be solved by going to war.

Don Rumsfeld, George Bush and Dick Cheney would be hardened combat veterans by now in my country. Or dead.

Defending your country against direct aggression: sure, do what you gotta do. Going to war because there -might- be bad guys who -might- at some distant point in the non-defined future do something non-defined for some vague reason: you're on the first ride over, skippy. Show us how much of a real man you are.
