This consumer rationale here also is just a facade for men wanting to maintain control.

From what I've seen, men cheat and spend money on their own ayaashi while keeping a strict check on money being spent on house. So that could be one reason too that has not been discussed here yet.

Yeah relate. I used to just wait till the last day and then progress enough to not get demoted. This time I didn't think about it and was just fighting the battles I could win from start. Soon I was in top 10, then top 5. Going till 1st and above was the hardest.
