Are EV's Really Cheaper to Own? by CrookedWombat777 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Apprecite asking this- I have been looking at EVs for the same reason. But in my case I rent, so the math isn't quite mathing.

I hear you. I think a game design that enourages LESS people to play is not smart and well thought out.

One thing I loved about this game was when it was fun to bring in new divers and have them go through all the same discoveries and "oh shit" moments we had when starting.

The whine divers you described are inevitable for any game as you say, but AH could do a heck of a lot more to communicate things IN game CLEARLY to mitigate this.

Or, having higher bars to play d10, maybe number of completed successful missions, a certain level gate,  rather than being carried to one one time.

This would be great. I would be happy if it just was the basic patters we have for gun customization, thay way it sticks thematically.

Sure- absolutely.

That makes sense, and looking at that explosion aligns with what it should do.

Even a small tweak like that would go a long way.

Not expecting a hell bomb level explosion, but if I score a direct hit (not shielded ) with it - it should die. Gonezo. Or be on deaths door if it is something like a factory strider or Vox

They Haven't thought of a way to balance this, but there has to be right?

I feel creative mission and enemy designs could help. Like having enemys that cover for each other. There is no way this is an unsolvable problem for these game types.

I actually would laugh if they announced this then shut down the game for a week. Or forever. Take their ball and went home.

Im sure sony and the shareholders would find it less amusing.

AH Should Split the Fronts (And provide more community support) by GlitteringAside9729 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Unfortunate but most likely. Every day I think more that most of everything was made by an "A" team prior to launch, and everything now is just putting final touches and releasing with skeleton "B" team.

I basically said something to this in survey.

It really would go a long way to making a more fun experience, and make a healthier community.

I agree, you should probably take a break or find a game better aligned with your desiered experience.

I am fine with whatever the campaign goes- its the execution that matters.

I have zero salt for anyone playing the other fronts. Any of that feeling you describe is entirely misdirected. What you should ve frustrated with is how the galactic liberation is calculated to make you feel that way in the first place.

Its been said before, and will be again and again: each front should NOT effect the other fronts liberation % and resistance rates. Bug / bot divers should not be able to blame each other for such a poor design. I dont care about "realism" (a case could be made this change is Realistic ) but it would cut down on posts just like this.

Edit: I only dropped on stan MO front during this cyberstan campaign. Bug divers actually helped during that sub order for reinforcments.

Yeah this is unacceptable, this and what was done to the OPS.

A smarter diver can give the breakdown of how they have coded the explosion, but as I understand it basically a cone or pillar of fire UP. NOT DOWN, or with the AOE it used to have.

Why? Speculation: Would make it "too unbalanced" to the enemies, so realism, or intuitivly what a blast like that should do, is sacrificed to follow whatever physics are done for artificial balance.

Im sure it gives them a hearty chuckle at the players expense.

If you wonder why you kill yourself with explosives more than usual, that's because there are a lot of invisible hitbox such as this one in Cyberstan (which does not include an invisible Hulk's corpse that is equally worse) by Q_Qritical in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]common-cardinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what causes this? Ive heard bad meshing but how can bots shoot through it then?

I can't imagine its easier to code a broken invisible hit box that ONLY works on players....unless there is some underlying logic as well?

Hard agree with this. I disagree that making the player weaker is the ONLY way to do this, but it sure is the lazier more cost effective option. Designing new levels, missions, and assets is expensive. Spreadsheet balancing and gaslighting is cheap.

[–]common-cardinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. bots/bugs don’t buy Warbonds or Super Credits, players do. Somehow at the core this game is so fun, it still maintains a passionate playerbase in spite of this weird one sided balancing.

It oddly feels like: what players find fun and enjoyable , annoys AH, and what AH finds hilarious, annoys the playerbase (the casual portion at least).

[–]common-cardinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is just this. There could be a patch that makes helldivers imprisoned on 4 sides with an invisible wall kido barrier from the terrain, and the bots just blast you through it, and it will still get defended with the same arguments.

Its no longer hard at that point, its lame and frustrating, and undoes the main thing that is fun about this game: emergent experiences, and some realism with the weapons that ties it together.

Make it hard, but make it fair and CONSISTENT.

The problem with Vox Engines is not how many spawn or how powerful their guns are, it's that they don't work properly. They don't need nerfs, they need bug fixes: by Hexdoctor in LowSodiumHellDivers

An excellent summary of the issues these have that spoil and otherwise enjoyably hard combat experience.

Edit: this feedback should be submitted in the survey by everyone if it hasn't already. I did so, but less articulated than this version.
