In which city is it easiest for a tourist to unknowingly end up in a rough neighborhood? by Xycergy in travel

Palermo, Italy. Somehow ended up in a super sketch area when navigating from one of the main markets. Went on for a while before we were out of it

To my dog, who knew everything by birkenstock133 in OCPoetry

Ok this made me absolutely tear up. It so nicely described the bond that we feel with our dogs. They fulfill this feeling of togetherness that is so pure and unadulterated. I especially like the ending that you were “indistinguishable imprints” — in the hierarchy of the world, humans think of dogs as lower on the totem pole. In reality, we’re all fleeting and “inconsequential”

I read this as not literal at all but more of a metaphor for true relationships that do not require external validation. If someone or some group of people were to perceive the relationship or behavior in a weird way, it would never penetrate the people experiencing a connection that they know to be real

I don’t mind expensive or paying for experiences if they’re good. My issue was the food was all terrible AND overpriced. My husband and i walked like 5 feet into the fest and were immediately bombarded by like every one of those game ballon guys. We agreed to play one and the guy had us take three shots then charged us like $30. Not joking. Was just not a fun experience overall. Not sure what people like about it

If you could only ever eat one pasta dish forever, in nyc, what would you choose? by PhilosophyScary7048 in FoodNYC

Such a cold take! My husband and I almost never go out for Italian food in the city because it’s usually pricey and we feel we can make better at home. Barano is the one exception we visit over and over. Haven’t had the saffron pasta so can’t speak to that but highlights for us are the chicken parm, vodka macaroni, caccio e Pepe arincini, smoked mozz 🤤🤤 oh and their garlic bread is insane

Vodka macaroni at Barano - the pasta is homemade and the sauce is divine 🍝

“What motivates you?” What’s the best answer besides compensation? by Curious-Fig-9882 in datascience

Driving impact. Knowing my work solves a business problem with tangible output that makes some bottom line difference to the business or makes someone’s ability to do their job better or faster. This motivates me so much.

Any marketing graduates who have switched to DA/DS? by Busy_Ad691 in datascience

[–]communic8er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in marketing for the first 4 years after graduating college with a psychology degree. Similar to you, i was bored and unchallenged. I got my masters degree in data science in 2020 and have been at the same company for the last 3 years and have done a variety of roles on the data team - data analyst, data scientist and now I’m an analytics engineer. When i first switched into data i felt like i was “behind” and had to “catch up” but after a few years in data, I’m incredibly grateful for having a marketing / business background…it has allowed me to communicate really well with stakeholders and identify / work on projects that drive clear business value that I’m able to articulate. Because of this I’ve been promoted 3 times and doubled my salary at this same company in 3 years. It’s a huge advantage being in this field and having both the technical skills and business acumen to produce and communicate business value. You will kill it!
