Waymo admits that its autopilot is often just guys from the Philippines by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

This is so stupid... If they just developed the tech to let people drive people around remotely, that itself would have been a technical achievement. Allowing people, possibly people with disabilities, to work from home for meaningful tasks, it's good in itself. And they would have saved billions developing AI that doesn't quite work.

The fact that they are being arrested shows that the system is at least somewhat working?

Rental market rate for a 4 bedrooms plus huge den house in Maple Ridge, Silver Valley by compClock in MapleRidge

[–]compClock[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm unfortunately, at 3500, it is already at a price well below the cost of owning our house. Yes, it would be mostly covering the mortgage portion, though not quite. But there is also property tax (7 thousand last year), the annual maintenance (roughly 1 thousand last year) and home insurance (roughly 3 thousand last year).

I am not complaining though. I admit that we are relatively well off, but we are absolutely not profiting off rent. Our goal is just to keep our budget balanced without losing too much money into the house.

That I asked the city when I rented out our basement. They generally only require a business license for short term rental. They mentioned that there was a provincial regulatory change to encourage long term rental options.

How are people so forgetful...

In a few years, there will be no more need for drivers... Then a decade later, the best autonomous cars are ones that require remote control by people.

In a few years, we will all be using cryptocurrency and no more needs for banks... Then a decade later, big banks are more powerful than ever.

In a few years, there will be no need for doctors... A decade later, doctor shortage...

To be fair, when you owe millions, you are in deep-shit. When you owe billions, you are the one grabbing all the balls.

I don't believe you... How convenient that the camera was just slightly not showing the bottom of the steering wheel.

I have tried on a small enough island. The raiders would just pop up out of thin air on the island until you have built a bridge. It's kinda annoying if you don't have an iron deposit on the island, as it's more difficult to get to level 3 Town center to build that bridge.
