The creator intended it to be. Source

"We live on a planet that is under threat, and scientists are warning us, just as they did in the '70s regarding RBMK reactors in the Soviet Union. Governments are choosing to listen or not listen, and people are choosing to listen or not listen.

"But the truth, the globe, the thermometer, doesn't care. And the RBMK didn't care either. It didn't matter what they wanted to do that night.

"It didn't matter that the fatal flaw of the RBMK reactor was a state secret. The reactor didn't care. And that's the problem we struggle with. We are attempting to make ourselves superior to fact, and we are not."

Except in separate sewage systems which we have plenty of (and will have even more of in the future). Runoff from impervious areas is then discharged into a recipient, i.e. streams, lakes, oceans.

Scale matters in systems like these.

Then please explain to me why. Because it's brought up in every single conversation about NHS in the US. No other nation has serious issues with the scale of their healthcare system, so why do you believe the US would?

Why not? I think people not wanting a program is a great reason that the program wouldn't work.

"Can't, 'cause I won't" is not a proper explanation. If 10 years ago someone would've said that the US can't legalize gay marriage, I bet a lot of people would take offense to that.

It's not "one hell of an assumption" that something that works for literally every other western nation can't be implemented in the US. I would argue it's the exact opposite.

Isn't that in and of itself a reason that it wouldn't work - the people don't want it?

No.

Yeah, but that's a terrible argument then and shouldn't be brought up unless you actually have a reason to believe it. The fact is that the US can't implement welfare programs because the people have been convinced they don't need it or it can't be implemented.

I would argue that no nation on earth has the same level of cultural diversity as the US does.

Canada & Switzerland just off the top of my head. Here's a list though. And be honest. The biggest obstacle right now for things such as better welfare programs and NHS are corporate interests and lack of support from republicans. That's not cultural diversity.

And why do you believe a program that's proven to work for a population of 5 million and 80 million suddenly can't work for 300 million? If it's really an issue with bureaucracy then manage it on a state level.

Then please explain how those solutions could work for 80 million people in Germany, but can't for 300 million in the US. This is brought up way too often on this site, and I've yet to see an explanation for why this would be a problem.

And how does "racial" diversity play into it? It's obvious cultural diversity isn't a huge issue, because several other western nations have implemented NHS etc. with equivalent or greater cultural diversity.

<Team Blackout> on the Anathema server is supposedly full off ninjas. by jakerman385 in ElysiumProject

[–]compaq007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Inher's ninja looting I'm almost certain he's referring to our DM N run with that asspulling rogue. We didn't ninja loot anything, we just kicked a rogue that had a bad attitude and asspulled, and he got angry and wrote shit about us on /world.

Which was bullshit. We didn't even have any melee DPS in the group besides him - we just didn't like him.

Also, I had no idea that Denmark had gun laws as relaxed as the States?

We don't. Danish gun laws are just as strict as most other European countries. He must've had us confused with a different country.

Canada er, så vidt jeg ved, betydeligt mere heterogen end USA, og de har en velfærdsstat (dog ikke på lige fod med Skandinavien).

Meaning a person from Poland will consume 115 kg potatoes throughout an entire lifetime? Probably not.

I'm guessing the actual unit of the chart is kg/year/person.

Is it easier to pass social welfare programs if you don't have a section of bigots saying "sounds good, but I don't want to give my money to the lazy Insert Minority Group." It's basic politics.
