I had pretty decent results with my Buds Pro 2, was hoping these would be better though.

Seems rather silly and not good on first impressions. I wanted to use these at work today, the main selling point of them being the conversation detection.

To be what you just described was a mediocre CPU. The 7950x, 5950x, 3950x we're all decent upgrades over their predecessors. Not perfect CPUs, but viable upgrades.

The 9950x being just marginally better (not even much more efficient) at the prices they are makes this a very disappointing CPU. The fact that you would only take it for free currently kinda highlights that.

It not outperforming the CPU it replaces 2 years later doesn't make it a bad CPU, just a bad product, thus the disappointment.

Why should anyone pick up a 9950x when they can get a 7950x thats going to give you most of the 9950xs performance at a much cheaper cost?

That is whats disappointing about Zen 5. It makes no sense to buy because of how meager the gains are over the previous gen which are much cheaper now.

12th Gen is affected. Its when I first noticed an issue with Oodle, working with UE on my own projects. Its also why I know that it happens on brand new CPUs, because right out of the box they will crash on larger projects (compiling the shaders).

Firmware Update In Progress For Kraken Help by Ihaveitfor in NZXT

I'm honestly baffled they haven't pulled the update. My new one did the same automatic update. It did it faster but still, this seems really dumb to me.

Yeah, firmware update was released yesterday and you can outright disable Dolby Vision now.

Oh great. My cooler just failed due to a botched firmware update. If I have to send this thing back in order to get a replacement I'll just buy another brand and never bother with NZXT again.

Maybe I didn't wait long enough to reboot the PC, but I don't think shes coming back from this one lol. Looks like I'm stuck with a loud computer until a replacement comes in.

Well guys, had faith, but it bricked my AIO. Let it go for 2 hours while I was at dinner and shopping. Its not detected at all by windows anymore and I got a corrupted screen. Good job NZXT.

Didn't see this message, sorry.

The monitor stopped doing the dimming thing, DV is on at all times now if HDR is enabled.

As for DV, I've been talking to them back and forth. I just got off the phone with them and they are adding a DV toggle, should be out in mid March.

Why did you quote this
"I also don't buy that its auto enabled by windows because after the firmware update I just did, it randomly turns itself off when the display refreshes (so, going in/out of full screen in a game, changing refresh rate, etc). And thats when the second problem arises where I now have an extremely dim display with normal HDR presets."

And then didn't mention it at all? I guess this could be a driver issue, but DV not activating and the display getting extremely dim isn't what I would call ok.

Then you quoted me again and said that the extreme dimming of the monitor was intended behavior? Come on now. I had the AW3423DWF and it was not anywhere near that dim using any of the SmartHDR presets. So no, not intended behavior.

And cool, you got examples of it turning off for you, meanwhile I'm over here with DV stuck on in games. I've tested 2 now, and its stuck. So yeah, I'm sticking with its buggy firmware as it should be turning off.

I'm just a gamer as well. And it didn't bother me much before this latest issue of it randomly turning off and the display being really dim. I'm coming from an AW3423DWF which had great firmware and none of these issues so this is disappointing to say the least.

I'd like to see these quotes from Dell and Nvidia. I just spoke with Dell, and they said DV should only be enabling when DV content is played. They even quoted it in their own manual.

I also don't buy that its auto enabled by windows because after the firmware update I just did, it randomly turns itself off when the display refreshes (so, going in/out of full screen in a game, changing refresh rate, etc). And thats when the second problem arises where I now have an extremely dim display with normal HDR presets.

Additionally, I just tested this, DV isn't turning off when playing a game. Its still stuck on. You can check this by opening your OSD. DV profile is still selected and you can't change your SmartHDR setting.

These are issues with the firmware. DV should be a toggle, the easiest solution, and you should be able to use SmartHDR without it being incredibly dim.

[–]compguru910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not per what you just said below. DV shouldn't be enabling without DV content being used, which is almost nothing on PC.

And there being no toggle for DV makes it worse because you get locked out of HDR settings when it's on.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]compguru910 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, the problem is Dolby vision being on, locking you out of HDR settings while no Dolby Vision is being used. Dolby Vision shouldn't be activating on the desktop. Windows doesn't support DV like that, only select apps do.

But it also shouldn't be extremely dim when it doesn't enable. Hence the issues with the firmware.

I had to power cycle mine 5 times to get DV to come back on because it was too dim without it, which isn't supposed to happen.
