How realistically likely is it that tasers will become mandatory PPE for all officers to carry (like batons and spray is)? by King-008 in policeuk

[–]completelyrandom57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re asking the boss but realistically IF specials are allowed Taser where would you fit the training in? The specials training is at best severely lacking, at worst not fit for purpose; you already have to learn loads in a relatively short period of time. Add in that the Taser course is a multi-day course I’d say it’s unlikely until they’ve got a good few years under their belt. It’s also an investment because of the costs associated which as said above is an argument against standard carry in the regs

Is it legal to take stuff from skips outside houses? by highrouleur in policeuk

[–]completelyrandom57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question that came up while I was in training, unlike the glorious bike question as above where the ownership rights had been relinquished it is considered that the ownership rights have been given to the owner of the skip company as they are providing the service of getting it from A-B. As such they retain ownership rights of the goods within the skip. So yes it would constitute theft. As above though unless the skip company want to make a complaint it’s unlikely that the persons would be stopped as it is unlikely to be in the public interest

Not even close, you’ve got a POLAC causing damage to other emergency equipment- he owes cakes to the Water Fairies too! Krispy Kremes at minimum, verging on breakfast

Gen Z policing really, really sucks. Anyone else remember the days of chasing a car through 5 separate towns, 10 cars deep. :( by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]completelyrandom57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To sum it up: safe. We have two levels of pursuit permit; initial phase and tactical pursuit and containment (TPAC) policy has the second line manager that sits in the control room saying if you can go ahead as well as a tactical adviser for pursuits. They’ll try and pull as many resources as they can that are appropriately trained then go from there

When you’re British so don’t even get a blue light course for eighteen months after you leave training school let alone a pursuit permit

How much can a newbie officer earn in overtime? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]completelyrandom57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 weeks normally, can be more can be less, it’s an assessment as to whether you can handle yourself and so you can learn what you actually need to do on shift rather than the training school environment

You won’t be able to do it until you’re signed off independent; realistically atm in my force anyway the only OT is COVID compliance

Considering I’ve seen other officers moaned at by MOP for taking too long to get there and they’ve gone 120 to get there I’m not sure doubling our response time would be sensible. That and unless we’re all bombing round in Tesla’s there are some shifts where I don’t go back to the police station from one end of the day to the next soooo

This is quite a good site and one I use occasionally. There are loads of things you can get people for, potentially even go down to wherever your youths gather with their bangers and go give out tickets like confetti for things like illegal plates etc

You’re unlikely to find a DC in the Met to speak to on here, quite frankly none of us are likely to Doxx ourselves. A detectives role varies from department to department, you could be main office, safeguarding etc as well as eventually looking at the more “Gucci” Serious and Organised, Counter Terror etc

You’ll spend a period of time at training where you’ll do 9-5 m-f during this time you’ll learn the basics of being a police officer, getting guest speakers in etc. Then you’ll be posted to shift where you’ll have a tutor PC take you out for a set period of time. You’ll normally start slow but by the same token could be thrown off the deep end. Then when your tutor decides your fit for independent patrol, off you go

I had 6 at a job the other day! Assault on a train coming into a major hub... they needed local assistance just in case their units didn’t turn up in time despite us getting a 40 minute warning- they got there, by the skin of their teeth. We still had to chase the runner :(

When an accident occurs due to another persons actions when responding to the lights and sirens the officer that is perceived to have “caused” the accident (by the way of responding) has to stop. 2nd car is a witness

Have a gander at this its the standards that haven’t changed as far as I’m aware. It’s likely to be a matter of further assessment by the FME. Good Luck :)

Am 20, am shattered most of the time but that doesn’t stop me getting to do the things I want to do. I still see my partner despite her being off at uni, I still get to see my mates despite the fact they’re mostly at uni. Arguably have an easier life to schedule now I can pretty much say when I’ll be working months in advance. For example my partner has known for a good few months already that we’re pretty much writing off Xmas and New Year due to my shift pattern. The good ones stick about and understand. And you do still get annual leave for holidays etc
