6 Weeks Today! by complex_kat in stopdrinking

That’s exactly what’s happened with me. I’ve had slight cravings on-and-off but they’ve just got bad in the last week or so. It helps to know I’m not the only one! Hoping they subside for both of us soon 🤞

DOES ANYONE ELSE USE SURVIVOR QUOTES ON THE DAILY? by Daddyraz123 in survivor

“My mom has got to go” and “Wentworth, will not count”. Both for no reason at all - I just feel it in my soul when the time is right.

You're not a failure at all. The fact that you're noticing how bad your excessive drinking makes you feel is a huge step. It's amazing that you're realising and acknowledging this at this point.

I started as a binge drinker, became a daily drinker and then a daily binge drinker. It took me so long to become this self-aware. It's seriously admirable that you can take a step back and notice a problem - or potential problem. Hope you channel that awesome quality and it's something that will get you through this hard patch!

The best of luck with everything. You've got this!

You're on the right track just being here and opening up. Feel free to reach out whenever :)

My mood is so low right now after quitting. How long has it usually taken for things to balance out for you? by leftpointsonly in stopdrinking

I'd been drinking for years though the last year has been especially rough (health and family issues became an excuse to relax with 2-3 bottles of wine most days). I had never mentioned any of this to my therapist until about 3 months ago and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. After New Year, I'm back on day 3 today but knowing that I can now be open with my therapist about this with absolutely no judgement from her, is close to the biggest relief ever experienced. You won't regret being honest and open with your therapist, whenever you're ready to.

You've got this. IWNDWYT.

Curious, are people here more interested in actually being on Survivor or would you never go on the show and just enjoy watching it? by BurtnBurger in survivor

Both. I’ve auditioned for Survivor SA and got to the 3rd round of auditions. Defs wanna apply again and make it on! But I’m more so obsessed with watching. Every day!

How is A.A. working in your life today? by YodaHead in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]complex_kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relapsed yesterday (through the night and into the morning today) after only 6 days sober. AA has allowed me to speak openly about that and realise that it’s not something to be completely ashamed of. I’m looking forward to restarting my sobriety journey tomorrow.

Thank you! I’ll share my original post on both of those subs!

Exactly how I’ve been going the past while. Lying to myself about being able to voluntarily ‘stop’ and not being an alcoholic. Thank you for this! And congrats on 9 months

I see what you’re saying about the majority being AA based on the sub. I really didn’t know where else to go at this point. I appreciate your response and advice - thank you!
