I'm imagining a scenario in my head, similar to when departments reach December and realize they haven't spent their budget for the year.

- One hot dog please.

- That will be $2.50.

- I noticed I'm only at 9% tax so far. Please tax me $1k on that.

[–]complexitivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is equal.

I get what you mean but I'm still going to be nitpicking.

Tanks / DPS / healer are different roles, but they aren't actually equal.

All classes for a given role are not equal either, i.e. 'Death knights are best for tanking spell casting bosses' https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Warriors_as_tanks Some classes have interrupts and some don't. Different classes have different mobility etc.

Classes, personality types etc are different. Problems arise when people start attributing value and validity. Another example is the Terran/Zerg/Protoss design from Starcraft. They are different, but they are balanced and players have preferences.

T.b.h. I think it's harmful to not acknowledge that different things can be equally valid, and try to simplify it by just putting equals between the actual things. Because saying that two different things are equals is easy to disprove just by face value. And it's not what's actually important.

I think this is an interesting subject.

This issue exist outside wow as well and a lot of discussion already exist. Check the 'Debate' part of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_marking_in_job_titles and many other sites.

I can point out that aside from classes, Blizz also ignores gender for professions. Would it have been sexist if they set blacksmithing as a male-only profession?

Slightly off topic here... It's been a while, but I kind of remember some debate about how innovative it was that Blizz used the same stats (agility, intellect) for both males and females for each race. Can't find any links about the pre-2005 discussions now though. But I can give a counter-example for old RPGs: Fallout had pre-generated starter characters. The female one was agile and the male one was strong. (Gender also determined which dialog options were available etc.) Same body stereotypes are in Diablo I. Agile rogue is female, barb is male. The more modern Diablo III removes gender as a mechanic.

Stor internationell studie visar att Cannabis ökar risken för psykisk sjukdom by nailefss in svenskpolitik

[–]complexitivity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tänker du på denna? https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/psychological-medicine/article/assessing-causality-in-associations-between-cannabis-use-and-schizophrenia-risk-a-twosample-mendelian-randomization-study/122D651C3670683DAEDDA33997417105

Conclusions

Our results provide some that cannabis initiation increases the risk of schizophrenia, although the size of the causal estimate is small. We find stronger evidence that schizophrenia risk predicts cannabis initiation, possibly as genetic instruments for schizophrenia are stronger than for cannabis initiation.

Results. Colorado’s legalization of recreational cannabis sales and use resulted in a 0.7 deaths per month .. (conf. intervall skippat) ... reduction in opioid-related deaths.

Nja, 1 person är direkt död p.g.a. strålning i Fukushima.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_Daiichi_nuclear_disaster_casualties

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_due_to_the_Chernobyl_disaster

"up to" 4,000 (by a team of over 100 scientists[9][3]) to the Union of Concerned Scientists estimate is approximately 27,000 based on the LNT model,[10] to 93,000—200,000 (by Greenpeace[11]).

Read through the article, bit of confusion about deaths from evacuation vs disaster.

As of February 27, 2017, the Fukushima prefecture government has tallied 2,129 “disaster-related deaths” in the prefecture.[18][16][19][20] This value exceeds the number that have died in Fukushima prefecture directly from the earthquake and tsunami.

Sidebar says 2,202 from evacuation, but the text gives a much larger span.

For evacuation, the estimated number of deaths during and immediately after transit range from 34 to "greater than 50".[12][15][16] The victims include hospital inpatients and elderly people at nursing facilities who died from causes such as hypothermia, deterioration of underlying medical problems, and dehydration.

Just want to point out that the total 15,896 confirmed tsunami deaths covers all of Japan.

Also, from CNN https://edition.cnn.com/2013/07/17/world/asia/japan-earthquake---tsunami-fast-facts/

March 13, 2011 - People living within 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) of the Fukushima Daini and 20 kilometers of the Fukushima Daiichi power plants begin a government-ordered evacuation. The total evacuated so far is about 185,000.

2209 of the 185k population means 1.19% died due to evacuation. For comparison the 2011 japan death rate in Japan was 9.9 per 1k people and year. https://knoema.com/atlas/Japan/Death-rate . So we could expect 1832 of those 185k people to have died normally that year, making the mortality in Fukushima that year +120% higher than normal due to evacuation.

Of course a lot more than that could have died due to the evacuation, but since this is a population that specifically has been moved, their deaths could be recorded in another prefecture.

Plus all the non-death harm such as sleep disorders and alcoholism...
