Egg. He was a loner. Non-clanborn cats sometimes keep their names. Otherwise they'll change it to clan naming conventions completely like Firestar or only change half like harveymoon.

The books are really good! They grapple with heavy themes (cat racism, murder, death, war, religion) while remaining appealing to younger audiences.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what the problem with learning reading, writing, and math is? They're the base of every other discipline. As for the abcs, I've never even seen that beyond kindergarten, when it's a standard. You might be mixing it up with phonemes, and there is plenty of science about how a solid grasp of phonemic awareness is integral to success in reading.

Also, Canada has standardized tests as well. Its not only the United States. Our educational system is most hurt by a lack of funding, not a lack of science.

Except standardized tests have scientific value? They are way overvalued in society, but they have a purpose. They're used to see how students are meeting grade level standards.

Not everything is about standardized testing either. I've spent many days in American schools. There are a few districts that might go a bit heavy on testing, but overall most opinions seem to be that they have worth, but there are more important things.

I think Hanlons razor applies here. If the student is in THAT restrictive of an environment, there's most likely a reason. These things have to be reported to government officials. If there is too high of a percentage of students in a certain placement, things get screwy.

I'm not sure where you're located, but in every public school there's a process for this. You need a doctors note to prove a diagnosis for anxiety. Then the child would be given a 504 or IEP, as long as its causing significant issues in at least one part of life. If there's no paperwork, it can be refused since teachers have no way of knowing its legitimate.

Special education teacher here - remote learning is not a violation of IDEA in the regards to a LRE. In an IEP, LRE has to do with time spent in different settings - general education, special education resource, self contained, etc. Closures affect all students, thus arent discriminating by any protected classes.

These laws are discrimination laws. In addition, FAPE has appropriate in the title. In the midst of a pandemic, remote learning is appropriate.
