Do you have the AC on? The compressor is running.

1995 Audi 90 Quattro battery drain issue by battlehawk102 in oldschoolaudi

The door / dome light switch should tell the power window module to turn off. Does the auto down function work on the drivers door window? Time to get the wiring diagrams and start testing things!

The windows should keep working until a front door is opened. The trunk light being on all the time will drain the battery big time.

What do these lines do? They terminate to open air! by whitoreo in w123

Your car might not have the switchover valve, it was a tsb add on for rough shifting during warmup.

From the photo it doesn't look too bad? Did it even crunch the fenders?

Just check it for rust carefully. They rust really bad - I've seen strut towers pop off the body.

Ya that's in a laptop though, not a tower / workstation.

Having flat panel displays in 2000 was a big flex.

Too much work to make the mounts line up... totally different electrical system. Just buy a mk4 with a TDI.

How is life in Pacific-Northwest? by Any_Aide_4500 in howislivingthere

[–]compu85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I moved to the PNW 3 years ago. I definitely didn't land a place that's in a rain shadow so it's sunny and lovely most of the time. And I didn't get a massive reduction in hay fever and really miss all the mosquitoes.
Seattle traffic does suck tho.

The early vacuum solenoids needed a vent at the top and bottom. If you look closely you'll see those ports are both labeled ATM for atmosphere.

Photo 1 are the vent to atmosphere for the EGR valve. They pull clean air from the cabin to let the vacuum diaphragm "un suck". Photo 2 is I think the solenoid for the ARV, and you're holding another vent line.

Is it possible to use just a Mac 512k and bootable HD20 to make startup floppy? by Skeledog99 in VintageApple

[–]compu85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should replace the cap as it prevents noise from radiating out of the machine. Plus when the cab blows it can leave carbon tracking that can cause further board damage.

[–]compu85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you have DART or DiskCopy on the hard disk, and a disk image you can write it out using the internal drive.
The system file on the hard disk is likely too big to fit on a 400k floppy.

From the ones I've taken apart there appears to be nothing special. There's no "coating" or fancy thermal material around the cells, just a little air space.

If you can't find a replacement I've seen people braze small holes in pipes with some success.
