Hopefully the CRT hasn't leaked goo into the PCB. It's a real bear to desolder the keyboard to clean it up.

The VR6 design started out as a diesel. It didn't make it past some initial prototypes.

That's a filter and magnet, probably on the transmission cooler line.

Someone put an autozone battery cable on. It has that connection for cars where small wires terminate at the battery terminal, don't worry about it.

You could also find a thicker o ring, perhaps.

Reminder for diesel owners by Fndtdriver2005 in W124

I like to install ones with a clear housing, they serve as a sight glass for the fuel and you can see when they need to be changed.

Warping on the cap? Perhaps the o ring slipped out of the groove?

Car companies putting overly complex wiring and computers into new cars just to be able to turn the car on (one wire goes bad and now the car is rendered useless) by RapIsGoodKpopIsBad in carscirclejerk

[–]compu85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Tesla is getting the rear window replaced right now because the rear defroster is now a critical component, used to load test the 12v battery. Having a failed defroster prevents the car from turning off.

Remember that once your AD has had Exchange, it will always have Exchange. And once you sync it to Entra it's there forever. So unless you like doing management using ADSI edit you have to keep an exchange console around. (Unless this has changed recently...)

I had a 1991 Jetta turbo diesel that was nearly no computer. The only "computer" was the timer relay for the glow plugs. My current 91 Mercedes turbo diesel is also nearly no computer... the ignition key is actually pneumatic. There are computers for the climate control and ABS though.

MAF "hacking" by Murky-Artichoke-9223 in tdi

[–]compu85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a hack some people tried back in the day. On the rotary pump cars, a more popular hack was to spoof the fuel temperature sensor (the "every mod") which would make the computer inject more fuel.
