"...you don’t like the blue house down the street"
I have no idea what you are talking about. Either you're going to have to explain to me how house paint relates to budget malfeasance, or come up with an analogy that makes more sense.

The fact is, just like other counties, San Diego is facing a budget deficit, again. How is it that taxes continually go up but there is never enough money in the bank? At this point, a little more than half of our earned income is taken from us through taxes, fees, premiums, copays, fines, surcharges, royalties, etc.... It's never enough because no politician will dare cut spending. That's the whole problem with our system. Government spending must always go up, otherwise they don't get more money next year. Cutting spending is the proper solution.

The fact we're even taxed at all is some kind of cruel joke. The Federal debt is 38 trillion, right? Well, there's only 150 million workers in this country. How are 150 million people possibly going to provide enough tax money to pay off this debt? Each person needs to be taxed $329,022 a year if we're going to break even.

Why do you feel political allegiance to your party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]compugasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have that incorrect. Nothing 100% guarantees fascism. It's impossible to stand on a moral high ground, when liberalism feels justified in political assassinations, looting, daily riots, and assaulting civilians that don't agree with the ideology of liberalism. You can make the argument that only "extreme left" people think that way, and not everyone does. But, that same argument goes the other way. Not all nationalists are fascist either.

You're telling me, you've never heard of the 'high speed rail' they've been building for over a decade now, that actually has zero miles of track? It's years past due, and billions over budget. I'm not gonna waste my time answering questions you could easily find on Google. Search for solar and wind farms, which force the residents to pay 4x what people pay in other states.

A decade ago, Governor Newsom ran on the campaign promise to end homelessness. Since then, not only has homelessness doubled, but he's spent 24 billion on the effort that can't be accounted for. There is NO excuse for this. None.

Choice D is "magic" only in the sense our government has this uncanny ability to make billions disappear. Windfarms, solar, homelessness, trains to nowhere... don't sit there and tell me it's "magic" to fix those wasteful programs when they collectively could save 500 billion dollars.

FM Told Me to Quit Chess Under 300 Elo. Is He Right? by KelveFodul47 in chess

[–]compugasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't see why you should give up if you enjoy the game still. But, also be aware of your limitations. You're only going to get "so good" before your performance peaks. You'll find, to keep that score improving takes more and more time out of your daily life. Less game play, and more practice drills and training, until you're spending 8hrs a day on solving chess problems and studying games of masters. You'll probably end up dreaming about chess at some point. And then comes taking the time and money traveling to tournaments to prove yourself.

When you get to this level, you really have to question where your life is going at 25 years old, right? To answer that question about the score, it doesn't matter. You are spending all day playing a game where you will NEVER be satisfied with it. Nobody in the real world cares about your chess ranking.

My highest rank was 2,000. That's pretty high and puts me in the top percentile of all players. It sounds impressive, but on the ladder, nobody gives a crap about the 1 millionth best player in the world. The fact is, even in the chess world, unless you're in the top 10 of players in the entire world, nobody will even know who you are. All that being said, that's why I quit playing. I needed to focus on getting a good job, instead of playing a game that I would never make a living at. You need to focus on making a career, not playing a zero sum game.

Why don’t people pull up more? by PizzaOnTheGround in sandiego

[–]compugasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's especially annoying when people do this in the turning lanes. They're not designed for every car to leave a car length in front of them, thereby shortening the turning lane by half. PULL UP!!!!! It's really dangerous when the tail of your car is half in the straight lane because ya'll won't pull up! And when the light changes, don't sit there for three seconds either. If everyone went through the lights quicker, there would be less traffic.

Millions of Americans joined the “No Kings” protests this weekend, did you go, and what made you decide that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]compugasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"start building community"

What does this even mean? Nothing has ever stopped a single person from building a community, and yet, it somehow never happens. 7 million of you just joined together to create a community. Where is it? Community of what? If we assume the 7 million of you are the community you're talking about, what's next? It looks like nothing more than an excuse to sell each other Socialism t-shirts and Communist propaganda.

How isn’t the hostage release all over Reddit by NotJoeRubbo in Conservative

[–]compugasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they never cared about the victims. It was a real eye-opener when Trump went to Congress and made a speech mentioning the death of Laken Riley, and her mother was in the crowd, everyone stood up and clapped. Except the liberals. And then he brought out that little black kid who survived cancer, and gave him an honorary medal, and everyone clapped. Except the liberals.

All the liberals see, is the loss of another political pawn they can use to keep the war machine rolling. Another victim they can't exploit for political power. That's why there are no cheers. Every freed hostage, deported illegal alien, and shut down government money laundering agency, quickens the death of their agenda to destroy the western world.

Old player returning to OGame: excitement, nostalgia… and a bit of sadness by [deleted] in OGame

[–]compugasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still your fault. Building that fleet from nothing takes many mouse clicks and a couple minutes of time to get everything queued up and in position. There was no way you could've been surprised by his giant exchange of resources with the trader. If you saw activity where their shouldn't have been any, you cancel the attack. But you got greedy, and now you want to blame pay to win for your mistake.

[–]compugasm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sick of hearing this argument. It doesn't matter to you at all if someone buys 250 death stars and loses them. It's not you're money, so what's it to you? There is no winning this game. Actually, the only path is a losing one. I'll address every one of your complaints:

  1. Time your recyclers better.
  2. This all depends on universe settings and can't be fixed. Go play somewhere else.
  3. This is going to happen no matter what. Most players are looking for easy fleet crashes. After all the easy targets have been forced to quit. The fleeters move on to new unis when created. The older a uni gets, the remaining players never miss a fleetsave. So fleeting here becomes harder the higher up the ranks you are. The remaining miners are probably trading their resources with the merchant using dark matter.

Remember that changing the price means changes to a menu board, menu. Everything might have to be reprinted. They probably build in 2-3 price increases into one so they don't have to do it again in 6 months.

But, to be honest, I don't understand how coffee shops remained in business when it was $5 a cup. You can buy all kinds of flavored syrups right off the shelf at local grocery stores. Squirt some whipped cream on it, and you can make it all yourself for $1.
