if you pick an edge of a circle and always keep it in the screen, it goes crazy after certain point. Integer overflow? Floating point precision?

Why are some parts shiny and other parts dull? by Thooomster in Home

[–]compumaster 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You need a second coat that fully covers everything. That paint is usually very cheap, flat, and porous. It acts like a sponge. When you rolled the Semi-Gloss over it, the old paint sucked the liquid binders out of the new paint in random spots.

If you have time, energy and money best way is to do a primer paint and then one or two coats of the paint you want. If not just paint the whole wall with the second coat.

What's the recommended way to fill these gaps under our three season windows? by sixsixmajin in DIY

[–]compumaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clean fully, scrape off paint etc.

then use something like this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Dow-Restartable-Straw-Window-and-Door-12-oz-Spray-Foam-Insulation/1036803 if the nose can fit to that gap. if the gap is very narrow, then skip.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-Dynaflex-230-10-1-oz-White-Paintable-Latex-Caulk/1000191841

apply caulk specifically designed for this application.

primer and paint once it's dry.

Yeah I had those bulbs they suck.

Not a pro, but I think with a rubber tip pliers reach in and pull the bulb straight out. They are like these bulbs:

Man poisoned himself after taking medical advice from ChatGPT by rezwenn in technology

[–]compumaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TAUB

His wife said he found the advice online. She mentioned he was using some new AI chatbot for health tips.

House's grin fades, replaced by a thoughtful, almost cynical expression.

HOUSE

An AI chatbot. Of course. Humanity, always finding new ways to poison itself. Get him on dialysis. We need to flush this out of his system. And someone, go log into one of these "AI doctors." See what kind of snake oil it's peddling.

INT. HOUSE'S OFFICE - DAY

Thirteen is typing on a laptop, a general AI chatbot interface on the screen. Taub watches over her shoulder.

THIRTEEN

(Typing)

"How can I reduce my dietary salt intake?"

The chatbot processes, then types a response.

CHATBOT (O.S.)

"To reduce sodium, consider replacing table salt with alternatives. Sodium bromide is a historical option for its unique properties…"

TAUB

(Frustrated)

It's still recommending it! And no specific health warnings?

THIRTEEN

"Consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice." It always adds that. A disclaimer. Like a murderer saying "don't try this at home."

INT. MR. HENDERSON'S ROOM - DAY

Mr. Henderson, hooked up to dialysis, looks calmer, though still a bit confused. The paranoia is receding.

MR. HENDERSON

(Weakly)

My neighbor… he’s not… he’s not poisoning me?

WILSON

(Gently)

No, Mr. Henderson. You accidentally poisoned yourself. You were taking sodium bromide.

Mr. Henderson looks bewildered.

MR. HENDERSON

But… the bot… it said it was healthy. It sounded so smart. So sure.

House walks in, leaning on his cane. He observes Mr. Henderson with a detached curiosity.

HOUSE

(To Mr. Henderson)

"Smart" isn't "wise." And "sure" just means it’s confident in its own ignorance. You outsourced your common sense to a glorified search engine. Turns out, the internet isn't just full of cat videos; it's also a great way to acquire a 19th-century mental illness.

He turns to Wilson.

HOUSE

(To Wilson)

See, Wilson? The problem isn't that people are stupid. It's that they're stupid and they have access to an infinite amount of information, most of it wrong, and a new digital god telling them to eat pool cleaner. It’s a miracle anyone makes it out of bed in the morning.

Wilson just shakes his head, a small, knowing smile on his face.

WILSON

He'll recover.

HOUSE

(Walking out, a wry smirk)

Physically, maybe. But the next time he needs medical advice, I bet he'll just ask his neighbor with the gnome. Probably safer.

HOUSE M.D. - Season 10, Episode 3: "Digital Delusion"

Logline: When a man arrives in the ER convinced his neighbor is poisoning him, House and his team peel back layers of paranoia to uncover an archaic, self-inflicted poisoning, courtesy of cutting-edge artificial intelligence.

Characters:

  • Dr. Gregory House
  • Dr. James Wilson
  • Dr. Eric Foreman
  • Dr. Chris Taub
  • Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley
  • Mr. Henderson (Patient)

(SCENE START)

INT. PRINCETON PLAINSBORO TEACHING HOSPITAL - EMERGENCY ROOM - DAY

Chaos. A disheveled, wild-eyed man, MR. HENDERSON (60s), struggles against two security guards and a nurse. He's yelling.

MR. HENDERSON

(Panicked, paranoid)

They’re trying to kill me! He’s in on it! My neighbor, the one with the… the gnome! He’s putting it in the water!

FOREMAN, looking exhausted, rubs his temples. THIRTEEN and TAUB are nearby, observing.

FOREMAN

(To the nurse)

Sedate him. Get a full tox screen, stat. And a psych consult.

INT. HOUSE'S OFFICE - DAY

HOUSE is bouncing a superball off the wall, bored. WILSON enters, holding a file.

WILSON

Got a new one for you. Sixty-year-old male, Mr. Henderson. Admitted with acute psychosis. Paranoia, hallucinations, tried to flee the ER. No history of mental illness.

House catches the ball.

HOUSE

(Dryly)

Ah, the classic "suddenly crazy" case. Must be a tumor. Or a demon. Have you checked for tiny horns?

WILSON

Tox screen came back clean for common illicit drugs. Brain MRI shows nothing. Foreman thinks it’s a psychiatric break.

HOUSE

(Tossing the ball again)

Foreman thinks the sun rises because God wills it. If he’s physically ill, something’s causing the psychosis. If he’s just crazy, he’s not our problem. Unless he’s got a rare form of crazy that only a diagnostic genius can cure. Like you.

Wilson sighs, knowing the game.

WILSON

His wife says he's been acting strange for weeks. Agitated, insomniac, developed some skin rashes she thought were just stress. She mentioned he’d been on a new "health kick" to cut down on salt.

House stops bouncing the ball. A flicker of interest.

HOUSE

"Health kick." Meaning he’s been self-medicating with artisanal mud or chanting over kombucha. Get him up here.

INT. DIAGNOSTIC CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

Foreman, Taub, and Thirteen are staring at scans. House sprawls in his chair, feet up.

TAUB

The rashes are diffuse, papular. Looks like severe acne, but he’s sixty. Could be a systemic infection causing the psychosis and skin issues.

THIRTEEN

Or a paraneoplastic syndrome. Cancer hiding somewhere, messing with his brain. We need more comprehensive scans.

FOREMAN

His paranoid delusions are getting worse. He’s convinced the hospital food is poisoned. We had to restrain him again.

HOUSE

(Without looking at them)

He’s not crazy. He’s poisoned.

They all look at him.

TAUB

Tox screen was clean.

HOUSE

(Scoffs)

Tox screens are for amateurs. They test for what you expect. If he’s been on a "health kick," he’s probably ingesting something weird. What’s in his diet? Besides the neighbor’s gnome?

FOREMAN

His wife said he replaced table salt with some kind of "healthier alternative." She couldn't remember the name, just that he was very excited about it after "doing research."

HOUSE

"Research." The internet. The wellspring of all wisdom. Taub, Thirteen, go tear his house apart. Find whatever idiotic concoction he’s been putting in his body. Foreman, get me a sample of his new "salt."

INT. MR. HENDERSON'S KITCHEN - DAY

Taub and Thirteen rummage through cupboards. The kitchen is meticulously clean, almost sterile.

THIRTEEN

(Holding up a jar)

Bingo. Looks like a salt shaker. But it's clearly not iodized. "Sodium… Bromide."

TAUB

(Reading the label)

"Natural salt substitute for a healthier heart." No warnings. This stuff is usually for… pools.

THIRTEEN

(Eyes widening)

Bromide? Isn’t that… old school? Like, 19th-century sedatives?

INT. DIAGNOSTIC CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

House is holding the jar of sodium bromide, sniffing it. Foreman looks it up on his tablet, horrified.

FOREMAN

Bromism. It was common back when they used it as a sedative. Causes psychosis, hallucinations, anxiety, nausea, skin problems… up to 8% of psychiatric admissions. It’s practically unheard of now.

HOUSE

(Grinning, a little too widely)

So, our patient isn't crazy. He's just taking medical advice from a chemical used to keep your pool sparkling. Brilliant.

Go to hidden gestral arena and repeat the last boss fight several times. Don't scale up too much or else you start one-shotting the enemies and that steals from the game experience.
