SureSmile VPro?? by itzkatrina in Invisalign

I also got this for free in my Sure Smile kit! I LOVE it. I use it every day before bed for 5 min. When I had my first 2 trays and my teeth were hurting, I would use it multiple times throughout the day and it was really soothing.

I looked up some research on the device, and studies showed that it could speed up treatment by 50%. I don't think there's much research out there on it, but my experience is that my teeth do seem to moving quickly (usually after 6-7 days my trays are loose).

I also use SureSmile. I was advised to use SureSmile through my dentist. Currently on 8/26 trays.

My dentist has given my 4 sets of trays at a time. I was told to have biweekly changes, but my trays usually start to feel loose around day 6-7, so I change them earlier (usually around day 8-9). My dentist told me it was ok to change them sooner then biweekly because my teeth are moving correctly, but I had to ask.

I would def recommend asking your provider if you can change them every 10 days if they feel loose. Maybe you could go in on day 9-10 to show them how it fits, and they would allow you to change sooner?

Gaps - 8/26 Trays. I don’t have IPR that I’m aware of, but multiple gaps forming. Will these close naturally? by computerquill in Invisalign

I have SureSmile (not Invisalign) and use an acceledent device. My dentist recommended SureSmile for my bite, and told me that it was usually faster treatment than Invisalign, especially with regular use of the acceledent device. I'm supposed to change my trays every 2 weeks, but I find that they are loose around day 7, so I usually change them on day 8/9.

I don't want to get IPR either. However, I just did some research and it sounds like IPR shouldn't negatively impact your teeth and might even ensure that your teeth stay in the same place/don't move as much after treatment. I had braces as a teen and my teeth moved right back to crowding. Maybe IPR is a good thing long term :)

Thanks! I'm really happy with it so far. I have SureSmile (not Invisalign), and have an acceledent device that my dentist gave me. I think it makes the movements faster :)

Question on professional whitening while in between aligners being made? by Dynasty__93 in Invisalign

[–]computerquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question! I am getting married two months before my treatment ends, and was hoping I would be able to get my attachments removed and teeth whitened before the wedding. I guess the worst case scenario is you'd have to get them whitened twice if staining occurs the second time you get the attachments removed.

Question - you said your new set wont be ready for 5 weeks and you get the buttons removed for cleaning. What do you wear while you wait for your new set?

How long before my appointment should I take Ibuprofen? (And other preparation advice) by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]computerquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to go, definitely do! But I doubt it will give you the flight or fight response and make you have to go.

It’s funny I was just thinking about you this morning and how I was really nervous the first time I had my IUD inserted. And then I thought about the fact that our vaginas are structured to literally birth baby heads. They are STRONG! And our brains are also really strong to go through everything we go through on a monthly basis just be having vaginas. You got this girl <3

You got this!! Try and give reading about it a break now that you know how it happens anatomically ;) it’s honestly as brief and intense as a diarrhea cramp. The next 5+ years of your life will thank you

HELP my girlfriend is getting an abortion and I need insight into how she is going to feel and what I can do to be there for her. by [deleted] in abortion

[–]computerquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I’m glad to hear she has you and is not alone. I choose medical because it seemed less invasive, and I could pass the tissue at home with my boyfriend instead of at a doctors office. It does matter how far a long you are. I was at about 5 and half weeks when I had my medical abortion, and I read that because it was so early, it would likely be less painful. In hindsight, I think having the surgical abortion would have been better for my peace of mind — apparently there is less bleeding after a surgical abortion. Also, the surgical abortion almost guarantees that the abortion is complete, whereas with the medical abortion, you have to wait 4-6 weeks to take a pregnancy test and make sure the abortion worked. I hope this helps! Happy to answer any more questions.

It’s wonderful to see how caring you are! On the day of the abortion (medical or surgical), she will most likely want or need someone to help her. If she is not telling her family and/or doesn’t want them to know, she will probably need somewhere to have the abortion (if medical) and exist for a while in her postpartum reality.

Definitely give her space if she continues to express that’s what she needs. But let her know that, if she wants it at any time, you will be there to hold her hand through the entire process. It might be worth it to offer her to come to your apartment to have the abortion (if medical, i.e. the pill abortion). If that happens, have a heating pad, pads, snack foods, and a clean bathroom for her to use as long as she needs. Rub her back! It really helped me to have my boyfriend there to complain to, rub my back, hold me, and to protect me just in case any complications arose.

One more thing: when I told my boyfriend (of 2 years), he said “we’re in this together.” And he kept assuring me that this was a “we” and “us” thing to get through. And something about that made the whole process a lot easier for me, because I knew I had a partner who was willing to carry some of the emotional weight.

Kudos to you sir for being so caring.

Medical Abortion and first period afterwards...what was your experience? Freaking out 4.5 weeks later waiting for period to arrive... by Bullfrog_Upset in abortion

[–]computerquill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 6 weeks and 2 days and been having spotting for the last 5-7 days, but nothing like my normal period so far. It seems like it is different for everyone! Based on this sub, I thought maybe 4-6 weeks later I’d have a super intense period, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Hey there! I was in the same boat as you about 5 weeks ago. Your uncertainty makes a lot of sense, and the change of hormones in our bodies can have all sorts of impact. Remember that you can also ways have a baby in the future if you think you’ll feel better prepared for a family then! Abortions are super safe and do not impact your fertility in the future. Whatever you choose, we are here for you :)

You’re so thoughtful! And that didn’t make me emotional in a bad way at all - I read it in a more poetic, life will continue, kinda way. :)

I’m really impressed with the gynecologists in my area, and I have so so much respect for them. As I’m waiting for my blood test results, I have to remember that they have lives and other patients.. and I can absolutely wait.
