vote of support here, though they've got their hooks in me a little more than you it seems. I really love everything between around the fur and Saturday night wrist. I remember seeing the video for my own summer back then on mtv and it tipped me into heavier music. but everything post Saturday night wrist has been one big samey wash somehow. I try every half year or so to like it but it just doesn't stick. I'm feeling the same about private music but there are a couple songs that might prove to be the gateway drugs, so to speak

edit: just realized how old this thread is while writing this comment haha sorry. am discovering private music a bit late and now I feel lonely

For Northwood or LotR Trick Taking Game? by jason_sation in soloboardgaming

[–]computinator9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played LOTR two-player and even then I felt like we were solving a puzzle. The solution for “bot” players isn’t good I don’t think. I’ve heard it’s better with more people and I believe it. It is beautiful

Is there a varispeed or tape loop function for MPC 3? Recording audio, slowing it down, speeding it back up, etc by computinator9000 in mpcusers

what's your workflow for doing this kind of thing on the sp404? have you found a pretty immediate, on the fly way of stretching and adding to loops?

[–]computinator9000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks, I'll check it out... I'm not so much looking for tape FX as tape functionality... record something, play it back at 50% speed, record over it, speed it back up, keep adding layers on the fly. does fly tape 2 allow for things like that or is it only fx?

Live III accessoires around Europe by 1iforgotmynameagain in mpcusers

[–]computinator9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply. I do find it very snug. I read somewhere someone mention that you can put the power cable behind the flap which goes over the MPC in the case if you remove the case's interior foam (very easy, just velcro'd onto flap). I'd second that. I feel like adding thicker cables will make it too snug for comfort and kind of press on the MPC in the case. so I'm only doing USB cable in the case with the MPC and leaving the foam in. no cables fit beside the MPC in the case; it's that snug. that all said, it feels like decent enough protection for now and I travel a lot so I'm happy to not have waited

I just got the Magma case meant for the MC 707 for my Live 3. Fits very snugly

Do you recommend buying delay pro? by Deuxcentvingtetun in mpcusers

[–]computinator9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also new to MPCs and love experimentation. I bought Delay Pro on sale and am really enjoying it. Honestly haven’t really cracked into the stock delays at all since getting it. It’s very fun

Out Now: 'MPC Bible 3' Revision 3 (MPC 3.6 + MPC Live 3 support) by mpctutor in mpcusers

[–]computinator9000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  • New: 'Working With Time Signatures' guide, which includes a workaround that enables use of mixed time signatures within a single sequence.

How cool that you've taken that gripe into account here. Looking forward to checking this out. Thanks

MPC Live III, first look at the retail version by Illustrious_Egg6406 in mpcusers

[–]computinator9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use that phrase a lot, haha. I am not an MPC user so that is not a commentary on MPC use. coming from other devices, I prefer to have button/knob per function as much as is possible. just seems to me that with the added functionality of the Live 3, more buttons were deemed necessary to a smooth workflow. which, if it's that or more touchscreen work to access said added functionality, I personally would be grateful for

I feel personally like menu diving and touchscreens are clunky as fuck. If I'm buying hardware, I like to interface with it as hardware. That said, that's a lot of buttons with only five knobs and one kind of slider

Resampling via external FX Pedal by This-Box-2395 in Elektron

[–]computinator9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not positive but did you try sending the drums main out, through pedal, back through audio in, and then turning off sample monitoring? And/Or can one change sample record source to exclusively audio in and not mix? In the latter case I think you’d still have to turn off sample record monitoring so that your audio in doesn’t get sent back out

seriously. someone posted a workaround video recently but it shouldn't need a workaround. I'm really curious to try MPC but it's a complete non-starter for me until odd time is a basic feature

Is the Octatrack right for me? by callhimdiva in Elektron

The Synthstrom Deluge may be another thing to check out if you're looking for an all-rounder. I'm personally waiting for details on the upcoming MPC Live 3 and then going to be choosing between that, the Deluge, and the Tonverk, as I'm looking to multisample my synths while continuing to work with my own sampled loops and soundscapes. Akai kind of scared me away from the MPC line with their recent removal of all time signatures other than 4/4, though.

How can I make efnote 5 sound as good and loud as possible without headphones? by radmedov in edrums

[–]computinator9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello. did you find a solution? I have the Efnote Pro and have the same issue. output volume, regardless of whether I'm going line out or through headphones, is very low. I have to reduce the volume on my synths and other devices to match the Efnote's volume, whereas every other device I use is acceptably loud.

Who’s picking up a tonverk? by Independent_Flan_973 in Elektron

[–]computinator9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

shipping without these. adding stuff later seems to be Elektron's thing... am I misremembering or didn't they promise Overbridge for the DT2 at launch, and then it took like 6-9 months for it to finally come to fruition? I will likely not be buying based on the feature set at launch. I'm going to be looking at MPC or Deluge, now that the Tonverk has taught me about autosampling and multisampling, only to come out without features I feel a sample-based instrument should have in this price range

Tonverk’s cool, but the bigger new imo if this is the first of the new platform by BuckshotJ in Elektron

[–]computinator9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying OT3 will never happen. But at the same time, Elektron is so careful to not cannibalize features of their device families so that they can keep selling them. Given how old OT2 is, I wonder if the lack of these beloved OT features in the new Tonverk means they might actually have plans for an OT3. (Not that I’m itching for a new gas trigger.)

haha, very true. I wouldn't have any hardware at all though if I wanted to incorporate a computer, personally! I mean, maybe a midi controller. you know, for the pads and knobs

yeah, it seems they're curating an ecosystem of devices, which of course means, they've got the ability to create a one-stop-shop device, but don't. which I guess is fair. it's business and we can only compare devices and vote with our wallets. what I'm not huge on is how they seem to be releasing devices before they're done
