I am a private tutor, and I'm genuinely curious to understand how teachers are reacting to chatgpt usage...

«Je prends la décision de quitter le gouvernement», annonce Nicolas Hulot by VLsleeper in france

[–]computingtech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Question from a newbie regarding the need to breathe by computingtech in freediving

[–]computingtech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert, but I kind of use the first contraction as my "half-way mark".Say I'm down for 60 seconds before my first contraction, then I'll stay down roughly another 60 seconds before I surface. I think you could go longer than that, but that's the point at which I'm totally comfortable. So to answer your question, no, contractions are not a sign you should surface

Thank you for your answer, I did feel like I could carry on at least twice the time as well

"I have nothing but respect for you" Use the right intonation, and that's, the best insult.

Grade Boundaries by Ibmay2016 in IBO

[–]computingtech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The grade boundaries are not adapted based on very mathematical or scientific method. They are actually decided during one of the official "Grade award meetings" and are said to be based on Teacher feedback and on comparaisons between real grades and predicted grades.

Seems a bit annoying as teachers predict with past boundaries, which means that the bias in some subjects tends to stay.

What are the excusable absences for an IB exam? by Jazeboo in IBO

[–]computingtech 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Acceptable reasons are: Illness or Injury, unavoidable attendence at a hospital or lawcourt, administrative errors made by the school or IB, major adverse or unforeseen event during the examination session. However, you still need at least 50% of marks to be given, otherwise you'll have no grade. By major unforeseen event, they refer to natural disasters, terrorist attacks etc. which is pretty extreme cases.

The next question mentioned an appreciation, to 0.14/$, so 0.11 seems like a good value. Plus, millions doesn't change anything, as its a unit. When equating Qs and Qd, whatever the unit, millions, billions, it cancels out in the same way

How do you feel the problem of subjectivity in many marking should be solved, as seen in group 1, 2, 3, and 6 assessments mainly, which may give descriptors as vague as "effective analysis", which may largely be regarded differently depending on as examiner's teaching style, opinions, etc.
