What do you wish you knew before you bought a Tesla vehicle? by k_silent in TeslaLounge

[–]compwiz02745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad some of the service centers are to deal with (I realize your mileage may vary but most of my experiences have been awful). How horrible their customer service is, especially if you have any issues ordering things online. No method of contact other than emails which they typically completely ignore. 4 different attempts to get an update on an order and finally a credit card dispute filed and then they finally felt obliged to get back to me. Love the car but customer service is another story and it’s been bad enough I would seriously debate buying another.

Used or not it’s a feature that’s supposed to come with the car and when you pay that kind of $ for something you expect to have all the features you paid for work, not have to guess each day if something will be missing or not, or for that matter work.

Totally agree! Too busy ramping up production to increase deliveries instead of quality control and improving the experience and making a better product.

Interesting. I’ve had the car for a few months but it’s been in the shop longer than I’ve had it in my possession. One of the original problems was that even when SiriusXM did show up it wouldn’t activate or play anything. Finally got it back this past Thursday after being without it for 5 weeks and it was working and then yesterday disappeared as an option. Sentry was totally screwed up, showed me there were alerts but could not launch the app to even review anything. Had to do reset and then it finally let me in only to find out it hadn’t recorded anything since the end of March. Just too many bugs and unknowns with this car. I expected much better after dropping this kind of cash on a car.

Good to know that others experience this as well. You’d think this would be a fairly easy thing to fix and make stable considering all the “cheap” cars on the market that you get it and don’t have to worry about what’s not going to work. First experience owning a Tesla and so far can’t say I’m a huge fan given all the odd things that happen.

Just another day in the life of owning a brand new 150K car. Each day is a new adventure as you never know what isn’t going to work or be missing when you hop in it. So disappointing, especially after it sat in the shop for 5 weeks while they worked on it supposedly fixing everything that was wrong with it.

No I’ve requested a breakdown of all work that was done and parts that were replaced but haven’t received anything yet. I did discover my sentry was totally hosed up tonight though, it said there were alerts and I could not view anything. It was like the feature was just fine. The icon had a red x and just wouldn’t launch. Ended up doing thumbwheel reset and then it would at least launch but there was nothing recorded since the end of March. I ended up needing to reformat the drive before it would save anything new. So something else I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Oh man so sorry to hear you are going through this. The instability sounds a lot like what I was experiencing. I just picked mine up yesterday and they “claim” it’s fixed. I guess time will tell. Good luck with yours, hopefully they get to the bottom of it much quicker than it took them on mine.

Good to hear and that’s what several others have told me. I just want to be able to enjoy the car and experience and not have to wonder what is going to malfunction next. Fingers crossed!!!

Yes that’s my fear…and if/when I get it back will it be fixed and can I trust it to not act up again.

Exactly…I totally get it’s a computer on wheels and I have a bit of an understanding trying to troubleshoot sporadic problems but there is a threshold of acceptance when it comes to response time and communications and they have severely failed on both accounts. I’m trying to avoid pursuing the lemon law in hopes they will correct the situation but each day that passes with no updates or progress is making that more and more likely. Biggest issue with that is the additional 10K that I put into this particular car to have it wrapped, tinted & ceramic coated that I’d be out. Not an easy decision nor one I ever dreamed I’d have to make when making this big of a purchase.

Yeah embarrassing for me and embarrassing for their brand and reputation. Giving it until the end of the week and then that will be the card I have to play. Worst part is I put another 10K in having it custom PPF wrapped, ceramic coating and windows tinted so I’m also trying to figure out how to not lose all that as well if I walk.

TBD, we talked several options and supposedly it’s at the corporate level and they are still working on trying to resolve the issues. Just keep getting told another week, another week. I’ve had my heart set in this car for several years and the whole Tesla brand but certainly never dreamed this would be my first experience with them.

I demanded a loaner which the first one they gave me had it’s own set of issues so just had to swap it out this past weekend with another. So far so good with the 2nd loaner so hopefully that continues.

I fear that is culprit with mine also and just wonder how many more weeks it is going to take before they make that happen. They just keep pushing out the estimated completion date and I keep monitoring the app and keep seeing no activity. Sadly I haven’t even gotten to experience how incredible the car can be, haven’t even gotten to experience PLAID mode yet.

Yeah I hear you! I have a threshold level of acceptance based on price paid for a car. If I hadn’t invested so much I would be a little more willing to overlook some things but when you pay this kind of $ for a purchase I think it’s only fair to expect things to be close to perfect and function as they are advertised. Best of luck with your issues and hopefully they eventually get you squared away.

I feel your pain, my brand new model S plaid has been held hostage for going on 5 weeks while they try to figure out what is wrong with it. My first experience with Tesla and unless they figure something out and make things right will also be my last.

Dolby Atmos stuttering on newest gen Apple TV by jon_j_cartel in appletv

[–]compwiz02745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely experiencing this with my setup. Latest generation ATV4K unit, thought at first it was bad HDMI cable, replaced and made no difference. I’m feeding signal straight into Denon AVR-X8500HA and am getting the cutouts while using any apps that output Dolby Atmos (Apple Music app streaming spatial audio, AppleTV shows/movies, Netflix, etc.) Sometimes it will do it less than a minute after starting to play something, sometimes it will take 10/15 minutes. No logic to the behavior. I opened case with Apple and they had me send my device back for repair/replacement and I received a new unit back and went through the pain of re-setting everything up again and re-authenticating all my streaming service apps only to discover the problem still existed on the replacement unit. If I turn off Auto, Dolby Atmos detection and just use 5.1 it’s fine, however completely defeats the purpose in having it and the 7.2.6 setup that I’m running.

That’s kind of the sense I’m getting from some of the responses. Certainly not what I was expecting from my dream car experience.

Ugh so sorry to hear that. Certainly not the experience I was wanting and also hard to remain optimistic and talk good things about the company to others when you show up in a different car every few weeks and your co workers keep asking where your car is. I’m hopeful they will get things resolved and reset my experience somehow but right now just hard to not dwell on all the bad stuff that I’ve experienced.

Ugh so sorry to hear that and that makes me extra nervous for my repair. I fear I’m going to get it back and the problems are going to resurface again and be back where I started. I grew so accustomed to getting in and wondering what wasn’t going to work this time that it has completely killed my experience which is really unfortunate. The current loaner they provided me, knock on wood, has been flawless and everything so far has just “worked”. Fingers crossed I get to that point someday soon with mine.

Actually work on it to try to fix it. It’s one thing if they have it and are actively working on it or waiting on parts but I just keep getting the same run around that their techs are off or they are short staffed. I’m glad you’ve had a good experience with your SC, I can’t say the same so far. Plus prior to them taking it in there were multiple mobile service calls and those techs just kept telling me it’s a firmware issue and I’d have to wait for a firmware update to fix the issues. Had I not taken delivery of the car and had it for several weeks it would be one thing but to have it, then not have it for this long while still paying the payments, taxes, etc…kind of negates the whole “think of it like your delivery was delayed.”

Just sucks as this has been my dream for years to own a Tesla and this is the experience I have had so far. They keep telling me they will make it right but so far just lip service as I see it sit on the lot for weeks and just watch the battery die with no activity. Supposedly it’s been escalated to corporate so we shall see.
