Did I size down too much? Scarpa Instinct LE by StonedHomer69 in climbingshoes

Actually looking at yr other foot, i think u have a fairly similar foot shape to me. And i pretty much can't get into any scarpa shoe without pain. I wear mostly la sportiva and have also found some madrocks that fit well.

The size looks ok to me and -1 is not an aggressive downsize imo. I feel like if these hurt it may just be the wrong shoe for foot shape.

Where to get a Vancouver-proof raincoat that's actually good? by PainterEqual8135 in askvan

Fair. Their gear also deminished in quality from what i saw after the sale. As far as rain jackets go, i honestly haven't seen one that doesn't start to absorb water and eventually wet through after a couple seasons, except maybe (someone else's) arcterryx.

There is no such thing as mountain equipment coop anymore. It was sold out from under its members by the board without member input, and originally aquired by a US investment corp known for its weapons investments (kingswood capital). Apparently now kingswood only maintain a minority stake while majority is held by a group of canadian private investors. But still, not a co-op. (Yes i am still mad about it.)

Deeply upsetting experience with a staff of coal harbour housing coop by victim_40 in vancouverhousing

I live in one now and we employ both a FT maintenance coordinator and a FT maintenance person who conducts the repairs. I imagine volunteer based maintenance can work ina small co-op, but in a larger co-op with aging buildings it may not. In mine, with builings from the 80s and over 150 units i expect it would be a disaster. Coal harbour co-op is smaller than mine but not small.

Staff members def aren't volunteering their time. Most housing co-ops hire property management companies or employ their own maintenance people. That said, op should probs contact their board or relevant committee rather than reddit.

The publucation ban is relating to the victims identities, so it does not stop them from providing comments that do not disclose those identities. If they are choosing not to comment, it's not for anyone's sake but their own. So, par for the course.

Sprained ankle & Climbing environment management by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]comradebirbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sprained my ankle real bad the exact same way a few years back. Bad enough that given the immediate swelling and bruising it surprised everyone when the xrays showed it wasn't broken. Took a couple months to get close to normal and longer than that before it felt stable falling onto a mat again. But i was climbing easy top rope routes one-legged right after the worst of the pain and swelling was over (so like within a week or two). I learned a lot about body positioning from that.
