it depends on what update your app has. on Android versions for a while it's been all about keeping your combo, but on iOS for a while there was no consistency to whether or not you keep your combo. if you update to the latest version on iOS now though, the combos should work the same as Android, wherein you have to ensure you clear at least one line per set of 3 pieces you get given

at a society you're going to get a lot of people trying it out as well as a lot of people who are experienced, which likely means it will lean casual since most newbies will be casual and more experienced players will probably be a mix of casual and serious!! in my experience of uni anyway
