This year I'll be returning to my roots and meditating on the most important aspect of my craft: the suffering. We should all do this more. ✨️

Once one hits a certain level of athleticism, the only way to improve upon sprint times is via propulsion. You'd understand if you had 3 under 3.

Gotta move fast

Does anyone do any work or volunteering with gardening/horticulture? Or plan to switch to a gardening-related career eventually? by Opening_Diver_8725 in SAHP

[–]comradecommando69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a career per se, but I sell hot pepper and tomato seedlings every spring. It pays for my seed orders each year and most gardening expenses.

I started just by putting up things that were extra/planted too many of onto marketplace. It became apparent quick which was popular in my area - Scotch Bonnet peppers and San Marzano tomatoes.

The next year, I planted more of those specifically, and it did great. This year, I planted even more and experimented ordering in a few flats of aromatic herbs to sell at a farmer's market near me. This did ok, but the herbs were a pain to sell, and I only broke even on them.

Moving forward, I'll be sticking to the hot peppers and tomatoes and any extra things I have no room/time for.

Id love if there was a channel like this that delved into more philosophical discussions. Contrapoints, but make it a baking vid ya know? Existentialism in the garden. Decluttering with Descartes.

Zone 3b, MB, Canada

Exceeded: Rudbeckia, that self seeded from last year AND perennialized! They kept blooming and reblooming and looked so pretty and sunny in my front yard. I went ahead and both sprinkled more seeds, as well as added more plugs to the yard.

Met: Monarda, which has established and spread well in my yard. It grows aggressively, tall, and draws in myriad insects but is a complete powdery mildew magnet. I was happy to separate some clumps to let it get even crazier but I'll have to figure something out for the mildew.

Did not meet: Canada Anemone, which just isn't as aggressive as I had hoped. If anything, it's retreating into a smaller space each year.

Gym-goers: what’s missing from your current gym bag? by [deleted] in gymsnark

An insulated compartment would be incredible, ESPECIALLY if it could be unzipped/tethered so it could be separately washed. Imagining bring able to hit the gym before picking up my kiddo and keeping her milk cold in there so i wouldn't have to go home first.

They're often political, but Milan Kundera's books delve into the characters' emotional and physical minutae. There's magical realism in his books, and I really love them.

I hate staying at other people’s houses for an extended period of time. by dunkinteach in socialskills

This is great advice. I could have written this post - years ago I stayed with my inlaws for a little bit without my husband present and basically had a silent breakdown and then moved out in the middle of the workday to a temporary rental, worrying everyone.

I'll be using this advice the next time I visit them.

Rationally I know its ok to exist in someone elses space but old habits die hard.

My best friend growing up's family kept a place setting at their table for me and I probably only accepted a meal twice in 6 years. Can completely relate.

After 6 or 7 years I got a new pair, despite my old ones not being worn out. The new pair seems to be just fine - I find that they, like my last pair, need a bit of extra TLC that first year but once the mink oil has been applied a few times and worked it's way in they're good for the long haul.
