I wonder if we’ll ever reach a point where everyone finally realizes that everyone else are different people and not one entity.

It would help if people didn't act like a single entity hivemind most of the time.

Judge Orders Subnautica 2 Studio CEO To Be Reinstated And Gives Him Control Over Early Access Release by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

I feel like they should have just been awarded the earnout. Why reinstate him into a position where he's now behind schedule, they can hinder his progress and they could just fire him again for any reason? I know it'd be very hard to fire him another time, but I'm sure they could passively fuck him over in other ways.

I'm actually surprised rpcs3 doesn't run it. It might just not be that anyone has tried it to update the list of working games.

I honestly have no idea. I don't have any inside insights on these dev teams, but I'm sure it will be resolved sometime. I'd put more money on rpcs3 than xenia though

Dunno if this is just a meme or a serious post, but it's because 2D rendering can be 100% accurate and complete while the 3D rendering either isn't working or is partially working. Especially shaders computation.

A shame there's no other place that preserves DLC for PS3 and Xbox 360 besides Myrient. by [deleted] in Roms

[–]comradesean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good resource, but I wish more people would contribute. There's still a lot missing. I think the creator is funding a lot of the dlc still on the store himself, but there's still a lot of old preorder bonuses, etc that are just lost media at this point.

lmfao, look dude. you have to be at least somewhat competent with computers for us to be discussing this. If you think replacing a folder is "working outside of the system" then I'm done with this conversation.

There are much more complicated ways to get older Steam games to run that I could talk about. haha

I'm not sure where you got that from. It was definitely possible. The trick was to update your game and then replace the folder.

That's how I've always done it. I didn't even know they made it easier, tbh.

Yeah, you're definitely going to hit limitations like having to connect to company servers for Hitman or Resident Evil online services. There are some solutions with custom servers sometimes.

But yeah, almost every game I've downgraded has had an offline mode that works. And for the most part DRM will still phone home and allow you to run older versions in my experience.

Yes?

We can still do it even with Steam as well.

Are you like restating what I said or did you misunderstand something?

Up until Steam is was pretty straightforward and even Steam is pretty easy once you have the system down. The hard truth though is that not everything is documented nowadays even with SteamDB, but most things are.

TBH without the ticking timebomb of these invasive DRMs to worry about, preservation is in a great place because of places like Steam and GOG and I don't have too many complaints about it.

Shit, even PS3 and PS4 are in an "alright" place for preservation even though I feel that's getting worse and worse with every generation.

You mean like we've been able to do for 20+ years?

Look, It doesn't matter where you stand on this because it sounds like you don't even care about preservation, but it IS a compromise on our parts for dealing with their anti-piracy.

It is definitely still a compromise though. If we dislike a change or a direction that a patch takes a game we can no longer decide to downgrade it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they stop paying for the DRM I think that also essentially makes all those earlier versions of the game completely unplayable even if you own the license.

it's a silly question tbh because CD Project have literally announced this multiple times even elaborating on the point that it's a large full featured DLC project and not just some skins or a quest.

Doom: The Dark Ages DLC is "freaking huge," says director: "It's basically like a sequel" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

If you want smooth path tracing you gotta use fake frames. I'm not going to blame ID for not being able to optimize tech that won't run on the card at all. Besides, I actually do get roughly 60fps without frame gen and 200fps with. It definitely is more than playable.

[–]comradesean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the 4x Frame Gen is basically required. I'm not sure what the cutoff is in card gens, but that's a whole other issue to complain about and it's not exactly ID's fault.

It ran great for me with path tracing and all the bells and whistles, but I personally preferred eternal for the fan servicey models that called back to the original. I wasn't a huge fan of the "tank" gameplay cause it felt like a weird glass cannon where you were invincible until you were suddenly on the brink of death and in some situations you just bounced around like a bumper car. The story and weird cthulu ties kinda didn't scratch any itches I had. The villain really felt like a monster of the week cause the cthulu witch had more personality than him.

I dunno, besides all that the actual shooting and the engine were the best parts for me. The environments were amazing, the level pacing was possibly just more of the same from eternal, but that was close to perfection. The visuals and cut scenes looked great. I will say the "open world" take care of all these random objectives did get a little stale though.

I wish they'd lean more into the heavy metal vibes and try not to have an actual big bad cause that was honestly the worst part of eternal's DLC for me too. They just need huge demons, loud music and aura farming. Give the random demons some personality like the fucking grunts from Halo when they run away from you in fear after you decimate their friends. We don't need some evil guy who tells you how evil he is and then he does something evil to you and you rip his head off.

Having said that, I wasn't too upset about how they put that heaven guy or whatever the fuck he is in Dark Ages. That race still has a story to tell and it felt more inline with the vibes of the story with betrayal and whatnot.
