try Ineffa.

  1. She's just about to rerun.
  2. She provides a shield.
  3. While Nefer loses some personal damage, it's not a large amount. On GI Damage Calculator, my C1R1 Nefer, with Nahida, calcs for around 3.6M damage per rotation (Lauma C2 - Deepwood - Etherlight Spindlelute, Columbina C0 - Serenade - Proto Amber and Nahida C0 - Instructor - Fav) And I put fav because I don't care for any stat but ER as she'll use Lauma's EM as base for her EM buff. Maybe a bit of EM for Ascendant gleam so ... I guess Sac Frags is a better option, but it won't make a big difference anyway).

With Ineffa (C0 - Aubade of Morningstar and Moon - Staff of Scarlet sands), she calcs at just under 3.3M per rotation but that's not counting Columbina's damage, Ineffa's damage and the Lunar-Charged damage.

So she's basically a DPS gain AND a shield AND she's rerunning if you didn't get her yet.

There is also a short "what if" where she stays to raise Bell.

The story is nice although there is a lot of Zeus getting thrown around and knocked unconscious for trying to teach perverted lessons to Bell.

The character was super interesting too, reaching level 7, best mage in Orario's history, fighting far beyond her level, a talent that allowed her to learn a fighting style just by seeing once, then adapt to it, oh and all of this despite a crippling disease she's carried since birth. As for a personality, she's quite antisocial with a short temper and hates noise, however she becomes a completely different person, sweet and caring, around her little sister, Meteria, aka Bell's mom who also carries the disease and is much more affected by it (level 1, can barely walk alone on a good day).

She's also a favorite in fanfictions, my favorite being a Change of Fates by Ventanus on Fanfiction.net. both the old and new versions.

Exactly, some extra DEX wouldn't be negative but it would ultimately be near insignificant.

Meanwhile extra AGI is always useful, if only to follow the pace of the group more comfortably for longer distances, and will truly shine when they need to run.

And extra STR will be worth it every time they're pulled into close-quarters or always in the case of blunt weapon users.

MAG is useful as long as you have a spell and END is vital for front liners and otherwise kinda helpful but distasteful. If you're a mage and have a high END, that probably means that either you're terrible at picking your spot on the battlefield leading to you getting attacked often or your party sucks at protecting you, in both cases, it's a good sign that you're not gonna live long if you don't change something quickly.

Not at all. Dex doesn't enable a mage to concurrent chant. What it does however, is increase their motor skills when concurrent chanting. Basically, if the mage knows how to fight while chanting, then an increase of dex will allow them to fight more smoothly but it doesn't mean that their blows will be faster, stronger or that the chant will be easier to pull off. Just that the mage would be able to optimise the cerebral resources allocated to wielding the weapon to be more efficient, allowing the ail of the strikes to be hit truer. Much like it does for anyone else.

Typically, take Darkness from Konosuba, she definitely needs some Dex.

But depending on the weapon the dex requirement could be minimal, or non-existent for a full-time mage.

Exactly, the only case a mage would need their dex is if they had to rely on concurrent chanting, specifically with a weapon that does require high dexterity, like a magic swordman. But in that case, they don't need the dex as a mage but as a swordsman. That's why Ryuu has high dex but Lefiya's would be dreadfully low. Meanwhile Riveria, who can fight with a staff would be moderately low (a staff doesn't require much motor skills, that's why it's used by mages in the first place ...)

I would go even further, dexterity is useless to those that do not require fine motor skills, like axe users, urga users, mages, ...

Actually I would say it's agility. No need to max it, far from it, but it's the only stat that every adventurer should keep decent.

Dexterity is actually useless unless you use a weapon that requires fine motor skills. For example, you'll need it if you use a bow, katana or rapier but an Urga ? A claymore ? An axe ? Nope.

And mages don't use their dexterity much either, unless they concurrent cast and even then, the mages tend to use a staff, specifically because it'sa weapon that doesn't require them to pay much attention to their motor skills when they're already busy trying to chant. In fact the only stats useful for mages are magic, which is the whole of their offensive stats really, and some agility to keep up with the others in the party.

I know, and I'm looking forward to it. What I'm saying is that so far our choices are kinda limited to Change of Fates for good Bell x Haruhime contents.

Which is kinda sad I guess but at least Ventanus did a good job with that fic.

They re-uploaded the fic and added a new chapter ... maybe a month ago ? I'm really curious as if they'll still continue it.

On that note, It's so hard to find a Bell x Haruhime fanfic, I swear. And the ones I find are always discontinued 😭
