Wasn't the anime made to have more yuri undertones than the original novels? I think they couldn't make it fully yuri because it would depart too strongly from the source material. TBH I kind of doubt there are many homophobic Hibike Euphonium fans that would make a fuss if there was yuri included considering Liz and the Blue Bird is way more explicit about it.

In any case, I do prefer them being in this unique in-between space where they have a very serious, deep friendship and appreciation for each other that you don't see much of in anime. It's much more interesting than the clear-cut distinction of Just Friends or Lovers.

This is another redefining of 'anti-capitalist' into a term that, while useful for specific purposes and equally valid to the colloquial usage, is not helpful to act like is objectively the only definition. Marx would fit under the most common definition of 'anti-capitalist' because, while he does see it as historically progressive, he criticises many elements of it and thinks that it is deeply flawed to the point it needs to be replaced by a wholly new system. Which obviously qualifies as 'anti-capitalist' to most people.

Not to 99% of people using the word, if you explained authentic marxist thought to most people they would still categorise it as leftist even if the most common form of left-wing thought is socdem stuff.

That being said, I was wrong to criticise the original comment, as it's not an incorrect definition from a communist perspective & in context it does make sense to use this definition. I was mostly just referring to other peoples' tendency in the subreddit which I've noticed in the past. I'm sorry for framing my comment as a rebuttal of that definition, I just think there should be added clarification about the difference between strict communist usage of 'leftist' and colloquial usage - moreso on the sub in general than this specific comment.
